Heatpipes certainly seem to be the big thing in cooling at the moment, and memory is no exception. As this year's Intel Developer Forum, Kingston has been showing-off some dual-heatpipe HyperX RAM modules, as you can see in the image below. There's no firm information about specs or availability yet, but you can expect these modules to have tight timings and clock quite nicely - although they aren't likely to be particularly affordable.

That looks very nice

Heat-spreaders and the Corsair Airflow treat me fine, but this looks pretty cool...I'd like to see the layout of the heatpipes within the ram-sink-pads themselves...I'm sure they go over every chip....but for now that's an assumption (mine at least).

:toast:

Are these installed sideways??

Nice, I like the heatpipes to be quite honest. And it seems that Elpida, promos, powerchip and all these other IC makers are making some nice Ocing ram.

Alright next step... instead of heat pipes, entire heat walls. Just blocks of gas filled aluminum :P

Yeah, looks to be that way. On the Intel Skulltrail maybe?

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!:rockout:

Good eye! I recognised the MOFSET heatsinks and Intel, but only the Skulltrail's would be that close to the RAM slots & the PCI-e slot.

Hehe ALL RIGHT! Now what do I win?

So then the heatpipe memory is FB-DIMM? I didnt think skulltrail used vanilla DDR2.

EDIT: yupp FB-DIMMS, just read article... i wonder if thees will have the faster AMB chip too.

Cookie?

;)

I'm cool with a cookie.

maybe the image should be rotated so the image appears upright

I don't know why. This is how it would be oriented in a case.

Picture.

Now based on the Newegg pic, you have to rotate the board 45 deg. clockwise.

yeah, ill probably resuscribe to this or a new thread when theres pics of this ram available on its own, not seated. :)

The one in the pic is a pair of FB-DIMM's, the board is a Skulltrail. So good to see a tiny market growing around Skulltrail.
