Inno3D Launches i-Chill GeForce 9800 GTX Accelero Extreme

We've seen a lot of NVIDIA partner launch their impressive graphics cards, but Inno3D has always been among the best. Today with the release of the i-Chill GeForce 9800 GTX Accelero Extreme they prove my words once again. The i-Chill Extreme features Arctic Cooling's Accelero Xtreme 8800 triple fan cooling on a highly overclocked GeForce 9800 GTX card up to 720MHz/2300MHz core/memory. This cooler features 5 heatpipes, 107 fins and 3PWM controlled 80mm low-noice fans or in other words a GPU cooler that can efficiently dissipate up to 240W of heat. With pre-applied MX-2 paste, Inno3D claims the i-Chill GeForce 9800 GTX Accelero Extreme is at least 20'C cooler than other 9800 cards that use the stock cooling system. Furthermore the i-Chill 9800 GTX comes with gold-plated DVIs, solid capacitors and 3 year warranty.

Not rly. It's the same company that made both those coolers. Think AC Freezer coolers for LGA775 and AMD K8.

absolutly, its like maybe 20-30$ AUD more than a 8800GTS 512, and given innod's prices, i bet this ones not much more than a bone stock model

^^ Actually.....no. For the most part they're pretty much even. Mind you I'm a big G80 fan(check my rig) but I know when to give props where they are due(although I may be upgrading to an ULTRA if I can score one for cheap enough this weekend). Depending on what settings you use(ie, Resolution, Aliasing, Filtering, Detail, etc.) one card wins in cetain areas the other card beats it in others. In the end it amounts to a dead heat performancewise(stock vs stock). Then there is also the fact that G92 based cards run cooler, draw less power, and overclock slightly better that tip the scales in the 9800GTXs favor. On top of that given that at the moment you can find a 9800GTX between $250-$275(w or w/o rebate) it makes it the better deal. Especially considering it being the newer(read hype) card it will hold its value slightly better in the long run for those who might wish to upgrade to the newer gear coming out in the middle/end of the summer(salivating in anticipation).

Back on topic: I'm not to sure how 3-80mm fans would compare to 1 or 2 larger fans(92mm or 120mm) noisewise. As from most 80mm fans I've seen and/or used usually have to spin quite a bit faster to even come close to their larger siblings in terms of air output. Even at low setting they seem to emit a higher pitched whistle/hum when in use. I don't know how these might compare though. Anyone with experience with this or a similar cooling setup?

it is the same cooler.

I have these coolers on my 2900's. They work extremely well, when the fans run. I've had to rma one so far and another is waiting to be sent back.

wow they went all out on this one...i like that it comes pre applied with mx-2 good move on there part...i wish more companies would do that!

i had a gander at the pic supplied, and it shows the air being sucked from the top of the card and warmer "red arrows" directed towards the mobo, is it just me or shouldnt the air flow actually be in reverse?!?!
kinda a nooby question i know but imo with common case design pulling air from the lower front, it would make sense that the warm air shouldnt be trapped under the card and instead be pushed out the top where the most likly air stream (or even a kit...) would be.

it's definately not as optimal as a cooler that routes the air out the back of the case but it works well.

yeah id like this is the direction was in reverse or venting air out of a rear bracket

This cooler lowered my card temps by over 30c and ambient case temps by at least 10c from the stock cooler on my 8800 Ultra. I think it's doing a pretty freakin good job.
