LaCie Intros 4x Blu-ray External Burner

Prices probably havnt dropped as fast as people expect simply because not many ppl are actually buying blu-ray burners ,most ppl seem perfectly content carrying on with their DVD burners, myself included.

in the uk can buy a decent brand dvd burner for as little as £16 ,the cheapest BR is last time i checked well over £100,no surprise that they are not exactly flying off the shelves :)

Ummm, firewire 400 is much faster than USB 2.0. Especially with large file transfers. Tho admittedly, that bandwidth is mostly waisted on a lowly burner. On hard drives, it's makes a huge difference.

I agree with wile e - firewire 400 is upto twice as fast as USB 2.0. seriously, you cant argue this.

The bandwidth ISNT wasted on a burner. USB 2.0 is capped around 30MB/s, which may well be the speed limit for a DVD burner but bluray is a lot faster. 4x burning on bluray, someone said earlier was 18MB/s - firewire would sustain that a lot better, without the hiccups of USB (USB tends to be unreliable for this i have a USB DVD drive and despite the fact it has enough bandwidth in theory, it takes 3x longer to copy a DVD off that than it does connecting the drive directly via IDE.)
