Plextor, a leading supplier of optical and storage devices, announced today a new 4x Blu-ray DVD-RW drive using the SATA interface - the PX-B910SA. Building on the success of PX-B920SA, the PX-B910SA drops the support for HD-DVD presented in the above mentioned model and becomes a Blu-ray drive only. Other than that, read/write specs for other media formats remain the same (listed below). The drive is expected to retail in Japan for about JY45,000 ($430).

I just can't wait for blu-ray dvdrw's to sell less then $299 in the us!

About right for the price. I remember when DVD burners were going for this much and more. If it drops a little bit more, I may buy me one!

im with you man.
once these things get cheap enough ill have to get one and an hd monitor and then ill be all set!

They are slowly but surely dropping in price. I remember that the first blu-ray burners (slower than this plextor) was over $1000.

I almost bought a reader at newegg since they have them for $129 OEM... but I rather just get a burner... might still do the burner. lol

yea i came really close to buying one too.

but i want the burning option as well.

@ktr,
yea i remember those days, haha :rolleyes:

The Cheapest Burning option I found was a LG GGW-H20L. $269 isn't as bad as Newegg's $299

wow thats not that bad at all....*rubs chin*....

lol.. the only thing making me not buy it right now is the fact that I just spent over a grand with a video card, motherboard, and monitor myself! lol

So is this drive made by Plextor or another rebadge?

When was the last time they made their own product? It's been years...
