Microsoft Further Extends Windows XP Deadline for Low-Cost PCs to 2010

Well I sorta loved vista for it's ease in finding stuff on the start menu, although I don't have the HW to run it fast I'd say it's ok and I love it as it is pretty..... All is well though, I'm happy that they'd extended support for us old OS users :D

I just hope dx10 becomes more mainstream and people don't complain they can't run it on xp, so developers continue to cater to older hardware. I don't care if others want to stick w/ xp, just hope this doesn't ruin vista for me........

companys will continue to support dx9 till the bulk of the market is using vista/win7, because otherwise it would cost them the majority of their market.

Let's put this into perspective.
If MS can make money by continuing to sell and support Windows XP, they should.
Their goal as a corporation is to continue to make profits on their products, and increase revenue (dividends) for their shareholders.

It is obvious that the sales and support of XP is still bringing them profits.
They will continue to do this until the support of XP costs them more than they are bringing in from sales, at which time they will be running at a net loss.

Business 101.

And hopefully with this in mind will get them of there asses to make a OS that more people enjoy.

I know, and that's what bothers me about the xp clinging. I know microsoft didn't fulfill some expectations w/ vista, and I don't really want to debate it any more, but mostly hype now is keeping things from moving forward in this respect.

its the same shit that happened with 98 to xp for those that hadnt found 2k, the move ment that companys had in some cases to put out installers u ran that started the install off the game/app disk because the one on the disk only liked older windows versions.

not everybody can move to vista, i mean look at the cost of the os alone, that there kinda blocks alot of people from affording the upgrade, those who can afford vista many times cant afford to upgrade to hardware that can acctualy play dx10 games once they buy vista.......

if ms wanted to push dx10 and vista adoption they would DROP THE BLOODY PRICE but ms wont do that, they want to make as much per copy as they can.

Yeah wich as the same as any other corporation they all want to make a profit and ms is no different. Crumbs come over to oz n see the price of software we get ripped of from everyone not just ms :(
