World of Warcraft (WoW), the largest MMORPG, is fun. People have gone lengths and breadths to achieve higher in the game. Those endless hours of playing it comes at a cost, the WoW subscription. But once you reach a high level (say 70), and own lot of gold, and basically have all achievements under your belt, your inclination to play the game retards. The fact that you have to pay to keep your subscription alive only makes it worse. For you, it means that you're bored, WoW isn't fun anymore, and so you could join another MMORPG. For Blizzard (now Activision-Blizzard), it means losing revenue. Not that they're short of it, but no company would want to lose it.

In what can be seen as a bid to woo such players and maintain their patronage, new achievement levels have been added to the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King Expansion pack. Similar to the achievements you have with console gaming, players will now be awarded titles, gear, bragging rights for several tasks, serious thru trivial. They can be as serious as defeating scores and scores of enemies or as trivial as getting a hair-cut done. Custom animations and sounds would accompany each achievement earned and in-game pets, special clothing and titles will also be awarded. According to Blizzard, these rewards will be "purely cosmetic" and won't affect actual gameplay.

that about sums it up

^ ill cosign that

what is the point of WoW?

Wait i think that question is the same as "whats to point of life"...

nevermind..

This actually isnt something they are implementing to "keep" players. This is a new feature of the upcoming x-pac WOTLK.

Lol, isn't everything getting achievements now?...

meh, my guild mates play wow because frankly pwning horde is fun, though we really want to do more than 10 man raids of course, but to many lazy members

I'm sooooo Excited!!!!!! special clothing, Custom Animations W/sound, in-game Pets and TITLES!!!!!!! :slap: ( You will have to Excuse Me. I have a REAL Life to live ). LOL

lol i hope i didnt disrespect anyone! the wording was just too perfect  i could never get into WoW.

i didnt my first time, did my second time, i think you need friends to enjoy the game

I have plenty of friends, I don't enjoy the game.

play online with the friends, thats how i got into it, i got friends all over the place cause there military but we can hang out in wow and quest together, thats how i got into it the 2nd time

I've played online with nearly 8 people I all knew in real life. Still felt like I was throwing money at a game that I couldn't win, and all I could really do is grind.

Get items! Well I just did an instance run, my item didn't drop, so Ill do it 50 more times untill it does!!

maybe i would have played it if i knew other people that did. also, 15 bucks a month? never.

meh, I like Silkroad which is kind of like WOW as far as I understand, but at least it's free to play.
to bad it locks up on my pc so damn much

My interest went down way before reaching that level. Variation in scenery does not make up for spending 100s of hours w/ the exact same gameplay........

lol thats what PvP is for, kill your emimies

It changes. Dramatically after 70. Then changes again in a 10 man instance, and again in 25 man instances. ;)

But yes, this article is somewhat misleading.. this is a WOTLK feature, not a currently implemented feature.

Does it? Even though your w/ a bunch of people so roles are different it's essientially the same point and click-fest (at least, that's what it seems like). And the amount of time it takes to get to that level is just too much of the same. My fun level tapered off after 50 or so.

LOL nice....

Never played the game but i can see why it has proved popular among many people. Especially people without lives anyway, it is a way of social networking, getting to know people. Just a shame that you can be who ever you want to be in that scenario.

I still don't see the point to all of this ??. but it does remind Me of the mid 80's "D&D" Craze. Anyone old enough to remember that mind numbing game? and the kids that took it too far?. I do! You want social Interaction ? go to the museum or a comedy club with friends, Anything, as long as its OUTSIDE. I understand that Not everyone that plays WoW, does so 24/7. nor am I saying Games like WoW are bad, but come on! what happened to the days of " hanging out with friends" IN PERSON:eek:. meeting new ppl IN PERSON:eek:, making new Friends IN PERSON:eek:. kissing a girl/guy IN PERSON:eek:. having a conversation IN PERSON:eek:. perhaps Im just getting old:rockout:.

:laugh: i remember D&D and i remember the controversy when a group of kids killed someone after they had played the game.
