GIGABYTE UNITED INC., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards today launched the new GIGABYTE EG45 Series motherboard - GA-EG45M-DS2H. Featuring the most secure, green and high performing integrated graphics solution on the market and powered by the latest Intel G45 Express chipset with Intel GMA X4500HD graphics core, the GIGABYTE EG45 Series delivers extensive high-definition video and audio capabilities to enable the latest high-definition digital multimedia systems. The GIGABYTE GA-EG45M-DS2H supports the powerful and energy efficient Intel 45nm Core2 Quad processors and features the new Intel G45 chipset. At the heart of the Intel G45 Express chipset is the Intel X4500HD graphics media accelerator, which features several unique innovations including more Execution Units for enhanced 3D performance breaking 1100+ scores on 3DMark 06 benchmark and Intel Clear Video Technology for sharper images and precise color control. The G45 chipset also supports smoother HD video playback, and includes support for Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats, thanks to built-in hardware video decode acceleration.

The GA-EG45M-DS2H is equipped with several unique GIGABYTE features including Ultra Durable 2 design, the fundamental building block of GIGABYTE motherboards, Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced, GIGABYTE's Ultra TPM, and a host of other features that not only maximize performance and energy efficiency, but also provide the highest levels of data security.

New GIGABYTE Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced
GIGABYTE's Dynamic Energy Saver (DES) has once again proven itself as the industry leading energy saving technology with newly introduced Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced. Featuring improved algorithms that provide a more accurate power saving calculation, GIGABYTE Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced provides better energy saving capabilities and enhanced system performance. GIGABYTE Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced is the world's only motherboard energy saving technology with hardware-based Dynamic 4-Gear Switching. With support for VRD 11.1, GIGABYTE's DES Advanced allows the motherboard to switch to 1 Gear phase switching during idle, allowing for a dramatic increase in power savings.

Designed with advanced users in mind, Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced allows users to take advantage of energy savings with or without the use the Dynamic Energy Saver Utility, for always-on, hardware based power savings. GIGABYTE has also retooled Dynamic Energy Saver to allow overclockers to experience the benefits of multi-gear power phase switching while overclocking, providing ultra stable, ultra smooth overclocking performance.

Setting a New standard for Motherboard Security
With a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip built-in, the GA-EG45M-DS2H provides TPM hardware-based encryption and decryption with digital signature keys to ensure a maximum level of data protection with 2048 bit encryption. GIGABTE's Ultra TPM provides an added layer of security by allowing users to store their digital signature key on a USB thumb drive, so that when they step away from their system, they can take the key with them, locking up their data and preventing unauthorized access while they are away. When making the portable user key, GIGABYTE's Ultra TPM auto deletes the user key in the hard drive, ensuring the maximum level of data protection.

Ultra Durable 2 Technology
The GIGABYTE GA-EG45M-DS2H utilizes all Solid, Lower ESR Capacitors from leading Japanese manufacturers, which provide enhanced system stability and longer component lifespan. In addition, the GA-EG45M-DS2H is equipped with Lower RDS(on) MOSFETs, delivering lower power consumption during the switching process, resulting in faster switching with less heat generation. The GA-EG45M-DS2H also utilizes the highest quality Ferrite Core Chokes, whose properties hold energy much longer than common iron core chokes at high frequency, providing reduced core energy loss and lower EMI interference for extended system reliability.

Dual BIOS - Patented Dual Hardware BIOS Protection
DualBIOS is a GIGABYTE patented technology that automatically recovers BIOS data when main BIOS has crashed or failed. Featuring 2 physical BIOS ROMs integrated onboard, GIGABYTE DualBIOS allows quick and seamless recovery from BIOS damage or failure due to viruses or improper BIOS updating.

Dolby Home Theater
106dB SNR ALC889A Audio Controller GIGABYTE GA-EG45M-DS2H motherboards are equipped with the built-in High-Definition 7.1 + 2 channel Realtek ALC889A sound chip, whose 106dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) significantly reduces noise during signal transmission and supports Blu-ray playback for an exhilarating home theater entertainment experience

In addition, the GA-EG45M-DS2H has also included the powerful Dolby Home Theater suite of audio technologies, which deliver a vivid surround sound listening experience for music, movies, and games, using two to eight speakers or any set of headphones. Designed to automatically deliver the best possible listening experience, Dolby Home Theater includes Dolby Pro Logic IIx for maximum surround sound expansion, Dolby Headphone and Sound Space Expander for a virtualized audio experience, and Natural Bass enhancement for the richest quality sound.

I really like the last few generations of Giga "Ultra Durable" boards. They have been very stable for me, despite lacking as many bios options as I would like

They dont but... on the ocing side of things the G45/P45 is awesome. This board should handle any quad cause of its ultra durable 2 4 phase...

One thing tho, why is it that both ASUS and gigabyte use the same NB coolers? Interestingly this board uses dual memory phases afaik

Bad. It's under 1200 in 3DMark06 compared to >2000 of the 780G. Not for casual gaming, maybe smooth HD Video playback.

these intel chips are designed for HD playback.

their drivers leave a lot to be desired however, my X3100 in my lan rigs onboard HDMI is next to useless.. if it ever loses signal (change channel on TV for example) it resets to 800x600 in windows :( bye bye desktop icons

Nice, integrated graphics are kicking older generation top line cards butt (9800 PRO/XT) :)

Just ordered GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3, this looks like a cut version of it (minus 2 phases, 8pin CPU power and other stuff).
