So its about as good as a HD 2900GT? And 128 or 256bit?

The last we heard of this exact part, 128bit. There is a 256bit RV730 too. They've pumped out many variants out of these RV710 / RV730 chips.

too bad its just not the 3870

Okay there isn't a 256-bit RV730, I mixed it up with RV740. I spoke with GPU Café. Their explanation:

GPU Café said:
At a die size of less than 160mm2, it will be pad limited for a 256-bit bus width.

Smallest 256-bit GPUs in history are RV670 (192mm2) & G71 (196mm2).

When it is releasing?

You know, you've actually got a damn good point. I've seen R670's (3850's) online selling for as low as $59.99 with a rebate. There's your "mid-range" right there.

How many ROPs? 4?

It looks a whole lot like a 3870... my card feels like crap now :(

IT doesnt look anything like my HD3870, I dont see where you all are getting that from.

It looks more like my X700Pro than it does an HD3870.

it might catch the old 8600GTS again, preformace should be on par with HD2900GT at best. This still means the HD38x0 and 9600GT/8800GS are better buys than this. Fail AMD

Appears to be the same size as my old 7600GS.
Looks like a good solution for the little shuttle cases.

Didn't you knew that at 900MHz DDR and around 28GB/s it can only be 128bit? ....

what would b the point of buying this.... midrange basically means something you'd put in your mom's computer to check emails with

no it doesn't midrange is where its at.

Midrange video cards are 100-300.

That means from the 9600GT - 9800GTX+ are midrange

from the HD3870 - HD4850 are midrange

why buy a Radeon HD 4670 (RV730 or RV740)

this carD was made especially for the HTPC and is meant to compete with the nvidia 9500GT but mostly its for the OEM folks.

Its perfect for HTPC systems (small + less heat + less noise + plenty power + cheap etc)

there is going to be cards for every system possible including servers/workstations/Desktops/laptops/htpc/iATX etc etc (SO THIS IS GOOD NEWS GUYS)

NVIDIA are slowly losing in performance in almost every market segment. RV710 and RV730 will once again hit Nvidia really hard, just as RV770 and R700 did in mainstream and high end. NVIDIA cant do anything until 8 months minimum.
