Microsoft Corp.'s vice president in an interview during the Electronic Entertainment Exhibition (E3) criticized Sony Corp. for $599 price-tag on the PlayStation 3 and expressed opinion that consumers would prefer to get an Xbox 360 and a Wii, rather than a PlayStation 3.

"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?" Peter Moore, Microsoft Xbox division vice president, is reported to have said, according to Reuters news-agency. "People are going to buy two (machines). They're going to buy an Xbox and they're going to buy a Wii for the price of one PS3".

"People will always gravitate toward a competitively priced product - like what I believe Wii will be - with innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario, Zelda and Metroid," Mr. Moore is reported to have said.

It is unclear whether Microsoft is going to co-work with Nintendo in a bid to replace Sony from the top of the game console world, however, denouncing the main rival amid praising another seems to be rather uncertain in terms of future plans.

The two should work together, sony stole their ideas: the idea of online-gaming and xbox-live feature from microsoft, and the controller(and game-) ideas from nintendo

Sony took it too far thats all, they are going to lose more money per system then Microsoft will. Nintendo has the right idea, they knew the "big boys" would shoot for the top, so they decided to take a new road, which I believe will put them in the lead for counsole sales. I think sony will end up getting the HDTV crowd and whoever else has the money. But considering that you can build a decent budget PC with 600 bucks I'd rather get a PC then a game console . . . but thats just me. 600 doller is double if not triple what I payed for a N64 a few years back, but will it be worth it? I mean honestly we just made the jump for dual to quad core in a few years, lifetime of technology is going to drop even more quickly now. A few years back they said a New PC will last you three years before you need to start upgrading, my guess is that has dropped to at least two.

ps3 launch price is deffinatly over the top, but then again, it was also for the ps1, ps2 launch. For those that can afford it, i guess it pretty much guarantees them a console instead of having to wait through all the shortages that are likely to happen. Ill wait till it comes down in price abit before I buy, but its deffinatly a playstation for me as it has the games I want to play.

Whoa, does anyone member the e-bay sales of 360's?

$1700 for a high end system?

Yep, no one is gonna pay more than $499 for a system.

lol thats right we already have one hundredmill units installed that one hundred thats gonna want one ....but sony is gonna wreck the competition now that we getting onto 65nm and price goes down performance goes up when they anounce the price drop I know its gonna be huge.... cell is gonna profit regardless of ps3... the ability to upgrade yor system thru a simple internet conection and hey doe we want to play minuature golf on a wii or go ballistic with the motion controller on ps3 using it as a rocket launcher or a ak in gta 5 but for the record we who are in this forum now that pc's rock all the way and consoles are for losers

Right on

one more thing i think wii is gonna be 129.99
what do you think?

I mean motion sensing controllers how hard is that so they have to be running a beefed up gamecube
Is there any specs on the wii?

Why did Nintendo name it the Wii? I sure hope they change it back to revolution, or I gaurantee they lose sales.

DUH cause it goes along perfectly with great names like Vivi

I heard the Wii means "We" as in a community of gamers, and the two lower case I's represent the design of the controller. Stupid reason to base the name on.

Anyone see the legend of zelda press conference? omfg.

it didnt look anything special, a turok game names zelda ;)

The cell is going to be 65nm?? IBM can't even get useable chip yeilds. There is no way they'll be prepared for a launch this november, and even if they do assemble a few hundred thousand units, they'll be sold out instantly. The motion sensing controller is a joke, I had one 5 years ago, it was called a Sidewinder. It's incredibly difficult to use two hands on one controller intuitively. It's just a gimmick. It's amazing how desparate they've become, and they can't even design a new controller?? honestly, Sony is more concerned that the ps3 is on shelves as a cheap blu-ray device. Consumers looking for blu-ray will see a $1800 set top box, and a $500 ps3, which would you choose? But then that brings up hd-formats, and that's a whole other shit storm that the majority of the public just wont buy into.

it may not be the most amazing name, but I think we can live with it. What about the ever insightful "PS3", and lets not forget the meaningful numbers given to the predecessor to the original xbox, 360.

not to mention paying 60 a game lol...Wii hardcores know pc games are way cheaper wink wink if you know what I mean ! but as for 65nm everyone is going in that deriction cause ot means less material to make a processor more profibilaty and not olnly that they.ve manages to create low heat per performance so there needs to be a drastic inovation soon or the market will be left flat....
