Blizzard has confirmed that the Necromancer, a character class featured in the second versions of Diablo, will be entirely missing in the third installment of the game. Speaking to Kotaku at the Leipzig Games Convention, Jay Wilson Diablo 3's lead designer said:
The Necromancer was simply a victim of his own success, ... He was just too well crafted as a character.

The absence of the Necromancer will be replaced by a new class called Witch Doctor, the Barbarian will also go through some changes and character improvements. That's all for today Diablo fans, more is coming when Blizzard decides its time.

Hmm, having never played the Diablo series, I guess I wont be affected too much.
 
You missed out on one of the best RPGs ever, Im not sure picking up Diablo and Diablo2 would be worth it now days, but when they were in their prime their was no better.
 
Never was much a fan of the Necro. I loved me some Paladin though!

I played as a necro alot but I kinda want to get into a nuker class on D3.
 
I was really looking forward to Diablo 3 for years and years, but after watching the videos, that game looks WAAAAAAAAY too cartoony like World of Warcraft. It's not scary looking at all. What a joke. F U Blizzard. Get a new art director!

Ill agree that it looks tooo much like WoW. D2 was the only one i played and i loved it, i just hope they dont F up SC2, been waiting too damn long for that game. Looks promising still:D
 
SC2 does look promising. I never played the original SC either. I did play all 3 WC games though...

I think everyone is getting too obsessed with graphics. Graphics do not make the game, they just make it look better. I can't wait for D3, its faster pace then the others, which is really great. I Think the witch doctor is better than the necro. The pets you summon will explode when you unsummon them, thats crazy.:rockout:

WTF are you talking about? I play Diablo 2 regularly. Don't give me that garbage "gameplay over graphics". The art direction in diablo 3 are very comic, cartoonish. It changes the FEEL of the entire game. There was some realism in Diablo 2's art direction. Not in World of Warcraft or Diablo 3. It's all a cartoonish joke. Blizzard turned Diablo2 - a scary game - into a funny game.

In fact, my complaint has nothing to do with the graphical technology, and you'd understand that if you've read my post and actually played diablo.

I thought the trailer was amazing. It never even crossed me that it looked "cartoony". Plus who the hell cares? Its Diablo 3, you should be happy

Of course you like the trailer. Of course it was amazing... It was pre-rendered CG. It doesn't look anything like how the game actually looks. Why shouldn't I be butthurt? Diablo 2 is an amazing game, and those of us who still play the game have been hoping for Diablo 3 for like 10 years. It's a shame that it looks like a bird's eye view of WoW.

Cartoon's can be fun, and have their place, but it doesn't fit with what Diablo 1 and 2 are.
 
Its pre-rendered? Do you have a link to where it says that? And it looks nothing like wow. WoW has sub-par graphics. The Diablo 3 I saw had amazing graphics and great looking scenery.

If you dont like how it looks, dont buy it, keep playing your 8 year old game on your 15" CRT at 800x600 with your 3dfx SLI Voodoo 2's, hehe god that brings me back to the good old days.

Hey man the voodoo2's were awesome.

On a side note i thought the game looked just fine. I know there was a big stink about how there shouldn't be rainbows in the land of diablo 3 and whatnot but personally i thought it looked fine.
 
The amount of bitching taking place over something that hasn't even been tested out yet by regular consumers is just a classic example of people being retarded.

Just settle down and give it a try. On another note here is a screen shot of Doom 4. Keep in mind this is in game and they are trying to improve upon the atmosphere of the last game.

Another thing to keep in mind is this. Blizzard learns and takes things from other games. If they choose to make the graphics a little less detailed as some would expect it is more then likely they want this game to run on as many types of machines as possible.

They are a company that is out to make money and the more machines that this new game can run on, the better.

Some people may not like WoW for what ever reason which is fine BUT, that game can run fine on some of the oldest machines out there. That is one attractive thing about WoW. Love it or hate it, you cant deny that fact.
