HD 4850 hot memory chips

Hi, I've got Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 card cooled with Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 and 120MM fan. Under heavy load my card's memory chips are very hot. They're so hot, that I can burn my fingers while touching memory heatsinks. Is this state normal?

Are you able to use ram sinks on them?

They're already cooled by ram sinks and they're working at stock voltage. Despite the fact of such high temperature, they don't show any artifacts.

Then I guess it's fine.
My HD4850 runs hot anyway.
But like yours it hasn't had one artifact.

Post an image of the sensor tab of GPU-Z to see how hot they are.

I can't check their temperature using GPU-Z, because there're only three sensors on GPU die.

I think the only way to check the memory chips temperature is with a IR thermal sensor as I don't think you can get a temperature readout from them through software.

Its just the card. Its a fast, hot card.

Does it hurt when you do that? Dont do that.

I got it with my 2900XT and i just place a 120mm fan over the area solves it.

Modern VRAM can hit pretty high temperatures and keep on operating within spec. Up to 85C or more. I wouldn’t worry about it. If you are not getting any artifacts or texture corruption issues, everything is quite probably fine.

Thanks for your answers. Now I think they're fine. Just to be sure, I'll install second 120MM fan, because first one doesn't cool memory sinks.

2nd fan is cool ,did you a side fan in your case which it is can bring cool air from outside directly to the card
