The new label "Core 2 Duo" is for the Conroe. The first to launch will be the Core 2 Extreme, while the normal Core 2 Duo will follow shortly after that. The new CPU will ship in July.

That sounds so stupid. Core 2 EXTREME!!! Make it pentium 5, it will attract more customers.

Man, right when I replace all my stuff, thinking the conroe was coming out q4 of this year or q1of 07.... :( They will probally be expensive anyway.

when are they comming out, and is this the same version of conroe that beat AMD in every single benchmark by miles

It was the E6700 that took on the FX-60 (oc-ed to 2.8).

Shipping date is July while on June 6th Intel will publicly demonstrate Core 2 Duo at Computex 2006 in Taipei, Taiwan.

what socket will it use? LGA's again? imo, they are rather dumb.. i'd rather replace pins and all instead of a cpu and have the pins sit in the mobo.
