MSI today announced the X99A Tomahawk motherboard. This socket LGA2011v3 motherboard is based on the Intel X99 Express chipset, and supports Intel Core i7 "Broadwell-E" processors out of the box. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors, and uses an 8-phase VRM to power the CPU. The board supports up to 128 GB of quad-channel DDR4 memory. Expansion slots include three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, and two PCIe 3.0 x1.

Storage connectivity on the X99A Tomahawk includes one 32 Gb/s M.2 slot, one 32 Gb/s U.2 port, one 16 Gb/s SATA-Express, and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports. USB connectivity includes two USB 3.1 ports (one each of type-A and type-C), eight USB 3.0 ports, and eight USB 2.0/1.1 ports. Network connectivity includes two gigabit Ethernet interfaces driven by Intel-made controllers.

I have to say I really like this board. It has many similarities with existing models, but it just looks more stealthy in this color design.

probably X99A-II would beat that...but i like that color design

Now, Tomahawk is a name i can stand. Good choice, much better than godlike, killer or other nonsense

Named after a missile, does it explode too? :D

dam that is one fine looking board

Looks great and no RGB :D

...or was it named after the Native American killing tool...the bloody hatchet? It doesn't explode, but it will stick in a tree trunk if you throw it just right...if it doesn't sell they can always give it the ax..

i like it a lot...

....wow..... feels like I'm being unfaithful to my system when I see something this......drool worthy...

Seeing as how it has a picture of a missile on the box, I'm guessing it was named after the missile.

I like it well except for some of the SATA plugs are not in the best place for what i like, sorry but that name is stupid.

I was expecting some thing like a axe lmao, silly silly naming shit.

Not the best thing to put on the box thats for sure, yes it goes like a rocket but does it explode like one too ?.

What is it with motherboard manufacturers putting one of the USB 3 headers at right angles, and the other at an ordinary angle? Can we have some consistency FFS!

The motherboard is called Tomahawk, yet the box has a picture of a Maverick?

I was going to post the same thing.. Maybe someone got their AGM and cruise missile intel a little messed up. Or, "oops, wait.. that's not the right picture.. Meh, whatever. Who the actual @#$% knows what a Tomahawk cruise missile looks like anywho.. "
