GIGABYTE today announced its top-end GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, the GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming (GV-N1060XTREME-6GD). This card is based on the 6 GB variant, with 1,280 CUDA cores. It serves up factory-overclocked speeds of up to 1645 MHz core and 1873 MHz GPU Boost in OC mode (vs. 1506/1709 MHz reference), and 8316 MHz (GDDR5-effective) overclocked memory, against 8008 MHz reference. The card uses a large cooling solution and a strong VRM setup, to sustain these clocks.

The cooling solution is a new-generation WindForce 2X Xtreme Gaming. This cooler is 3-slot, and features a twin-stack aluminium-fin heatsink, which uses three 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes that draw heat directly from the GPU, conveying it to two aluminium fin-stacks, ventilated by a pair of 100 mm fans which rotate in opposite directions to each other, while pushing air onto the heatsink. These fans stay off when the GPU is idling, a manual override button stops them on-demand. You get RGB LED lighting on a decal, and an X-shaped ornament on the cooler shroud. The card draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. Outputs include three DP 1.4, and one each of HDMI 2.0b and dual-link DVI. GIGABYTE didn't reveal pricing.

Yay, counter rotating fans.
It's one of the things that annoys me from a design perspective when they both spin the same way. :clap:

looks like its the same heatsink from my 980ti gaming extreme.

Super quiet card that keeps under 70c at load. This card can almost be fanless. I'll be surprised if the card ever ramps up.

@W1zzard will you review this?

I think that this coolers and features for midrange card like this is a overkill... it is nice to have overkill (to be able to flash bioses go past powerlimits and etc just to sqeez out that last frame or benchmark point to brag about), but if you have to pay a hefty premium for such a overkill, so for that money you could afford a gtx 1070 (maybe)... than it is complete waste of money.

over the top coolers must help sell these things.. they for sure are not really needed on the latest generation of mid range cards.. i suppose they suggest power that isnt really there for those that cant afford the real thing.. along with the "extreme gaming" name..

nice eye candy bling to be seen through a side window.. a 1080 sheep in wolfs clothing.. he he

Newegg has it for $299.99, so its still about $130 less than most GTX 1070s. Still, its a $40 hit over some GTX 1060s. For the higher factory OC you're getting maybe 2% greater performance versus a lower priced, lower clocked model.
