Bitfenix has been working on its second PSU line, the Whisper series, for a while now. As the names implies, these PSUs promise to be very quiet, all while offering high performance and reliability. The flagship of the Whisper line with a capacity of 850 W will be put to the test today.

that is a nice value... corsair rm850x (the same psu) costs 140 eur (here in EU), but this 110eur... and it is fully passive till 500w what else can you ask

Good review:lovetpu:
i wasn't expecting such high delta T from a gold unit, but the fan is pretty quiet and i prefer always on fan ( or passive unit ) instead of thermal-shocking semi-passive

i think that i haven't seen a 850W gold unit under 120€ for long-long time :twitch:

hoping that they will send you some low wattage sample ( 450-550W )

@crmaris did you have ever tested if psu's fan rattle if the psu is positionated in some different position? ( my corsair tc850's fan rattle as hell when the fan is looking down... i changed the fan because of that :banghead: )

I had the fan facing downwards during the noise measurements and didn't notice any problems.

Can you test it (noise, temperature, fan speed) with fan facing upwards? Did the fan emit any clicking?

I also test with the fan facing upwards (fan speed, temperature and noise). I didn't notice any clicking in my sample.
