The Cougar Panzer Max is a full-tower representation of the Panzer chassis. It is larger, bulkier, has more space, and looks a lot more menacing to boot. It really does resemble a tank, which is what "Panzer'' means in German. So in this review, we take the Panzer Max for a joy ride, fill it with some ammunition, and see if it is a straight shooter.

From my research the word "panzer" actually means "armor" in German. But is also used as an abbreviation meaning "tank" or "armored combat vehicle"(which unabbreviated is "panzerkampfwagen").

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzer

I mention this because it doesn't look like a "tank" to me. Though the word "armor" or "armored" does seem somewhat fitting. With the carbon fiber looking bits and all.

Anywho, just my opinion...:toast:

You sing music in ears :D

But yeah... there are flaws... yet the score is so high... my only complaint really.

oohhhh a review of my marvelous case ...
a pro would be the price ... i find it quite cheap for what it offer.

PS: there is also screw hole for the headphone hook on each side on the back (bottom and top like the front one )

also worth nothing, but nope you don't need to remove the shroud for a watercooling (but it does need very extensive work on it ... it's rather a monster air case than water nonetheless)

from the proclockers review and watercooled build (tell me if it's not appropriate)

If it's anything like Cougar's keyboards, their frigging junk!!!!!

I've got a Cougar mechanical keyboard and it hasn't performed worth a crap since day one! I wouldn't give ya 10 cents for a truckload of their crap. The keyboard is the third product I've had from em, and they have all be cheap junk!

Cougar's VORTEX PWM 120/140 case fans have been solid for me so far. Far from being crap anyway.

i have the case and trust me : it's AWESOME ;)

their keyboard .. i don't know ... never tried them, and judging by your feedback, i will never try/have one :) (tho, it can't be worse than Razer ... it's impossible to do worse than Razer... )

Wow, your disappointment needs to be tempered by maybe lowering your expectations a tad. It is a $139 case, not a $300 Corsair or Silverstone case.

I have reviewed quite a few cases over the years, including a number from Cougar. Yes, they have had some questionable designs in the past, but they listen to
feedback and improve their products. I just built a system into this case, and it was very easy to work with, well-appointed for the price point, and the finished
build looks quite good. It is a well-above average product for its price point.

To reinforce what this review says, I also found the power supply cover very difficult to remove, and opted to leave it off the finished build. The overall airflow
inside the chassis is likely better without it.

... i never said it was a cheap crap i said "it's all BUT a cheap crap" which actually mean the opposite of what you did seemingly understand... ( http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/all+but ) ok i, maybe, have used a too complicated formulation
and the cover is fine, airflow wise : i do not think it change a single thing o_O i have 3x140 in front (granted i agree with Darksaber about the ugly sticker, solved in my rig nonetheless, and the "hard to remove" indeed )

it's by far the best case i ever had since a long time ... build quality, features ... even some cons in that review are not totally true for me ... a dream case yep, at a excellent price point ... yep ...
and a 300$ corsair case can't even touch the little finger of that 139$ (well 154chf for me) beast ... my last Case was a AIR540 mind you ... not the highest end from Corsair ... but i take a Panzer Max any day over a Graphite 760T/780T or Graphite 600T any time, even if they were discounted at 50% off their initial price, Silverstone ...well better build but ... too expensive for what they offer, i'd still take the Panzer Max :p

read my 1st post in the thread :p

I'm impressed by the design, and really like it. :toast:
One thing I would change is the shroud, I'd probably make a custom sheet metal one to replace it, and have it angling down towards the front to direct air up to the GPU, and cover it in Carbon Fibre wrap, to match.

oohhhhh excellent idea .. i might steal it, if you don't mind ... but when i will have the time for it :D

can this thing actually hold FOUR dual slot gpus?
according to the manufacturer demo rig : yes
213a.jpg

but the airflow will be heavily hindered

That's what the 7 120mm fan slots are for
actually you didn't understand what it did mean ... nonetheless : "you're welcome"

i was not talking about the case airflow but rather the cards airflow ...

if you did even a basic 2way SLI you surely see what i mean, for example, my GTX 580 Matrix Platinum SLI (ok it's triple slots but still same, issues) the top card had +10°c on the bottom card temperature, because it was at a few millimeter from the bottom card, in the Panzer max in the case of a useless quad SLI even the bottom card would be within a few millimeter of the PSU shroud (tho it would not suck on hot air like the 3 other above it ).

I know what you mean
I have two two gpus inside my rig and another one outside it. Both are open air cards and blowing hot air around in the casing.
Strangely though, it's the bottom GPU that has problems with temps.
But what about blower exhaust type cards, the ones that are usually with reference design? Will that suppose to be run cooler than the open air type and not suffer so much from the close proximity?

usually yes although references design are less efficient than custom, tho they have an edge in SLI, nonetheless the cards being in very close proximity of each other the wheel fan while have less space to draw air in and also will take in the heat of the card under them (exception for the last one ofc, tho it will have the same issue about air intake unless you remove the shroud and add the 7th fan in the case)

Hey guys. I'm really torn between this case and the Fractal Meshify C. I really like the looks of the Panzer Max but my only concern is the CPU temps on the review as it seems like it's the same as a NZXT s340 elite. I plan on adding 3 x 140mm fans on front but I saw another post above that says that airflow almost hasn't change. Can anyone confirm? I dream of having a full tower with really cool temps but if it's not any good I'll prolly stick with mid towers and just get the Meshify C.
