When Thermaltake first launched their open-frame chassis, which was also VESA mountable, it was quite the bold move, but a few revisions later the P5 V2 TG has cemented itself as a pretty cool option if you want to show off all your hardware with the ability to do so in a really unique fashion.

Great case, I've always liked this family.
Questions: What is the 3rd possible mobo setup position? No traces of it in the review...?
And then the dust filter at the back side: isn't it useless if you mount the fans as shown (blowing front to rear)? I bought a magnetic dustfilter for my radiator fans and clipped it on on the front (intake side).

Does the pci-e ribbon cable introduce any issues with latency/EMI issues?

Two more case reviews until thermal testing is included :)
FINALLY! Please test with high quality reference fans as well to draw out a PC case's maximum cooling potential since many of us tend to replace crappy stock fans.

I have the 1st P5, but aside from 4 USB 3.0 vs 2 I can't spot a difference.

Also it supports up 480mm rads. Not 420!

Testing with high quality fans in addition to stock sounds good if TPU has the time for it. I'd prefer to see stock fans tested if there isn't time for testing both.

The ones included with the V1 case were poor quality and caused instability. There's hundreds of complaints on Thermaltake's forums about this. The one included with mine was also bad, so I gave up on vertical mounting.

I don't understand why these new, premium cases come with such outdated front I/O. The last three generations of every Dell OptiPlex has USB-C and a headset jack (TRRS) on the front.

Today I received the Core P5 TG V2 and other parts. I advanced as much as possible without all the parts for this build.

Some interesting remarks based on my experience:
- The PCI-E cage for turning you GPU 90 degrees is not cool, not practical, especially if you have more PCI-E cards, and ugly big. The only pro is that you will be looking at your GPU side. But the case as a whole does not improve (personal opinion of course).
- The easy mounting holes for reservoirs mentioned certainly are not for EK parts. I am sure they are for ThermalTake's own catalogue parts. Just like the Pump holes. I had to drill my own holes for EK parts.
- Now the biggy: Don't install an E-ATX board if you don't like adapting the case to your needs. At stock, E-ATX totally covers the big holes for the cables (Fat cables are a no go, custom cables, maybe).
And if your mobo has a fancy Back-Armour on that side then it is a 100% Mission Impossible. Only a credit card will pass.
Or you have to use the provided mobo plate to mount the mobo vertically, with all your I/O ports looking skywards, or use the PCI-E vertical cage (a disaster for many reasons, both practical and looks-wise).
Or you use double high mobo spacers. This is what I did.

A real development disaster. Well not really, they don't advertise the case for E-ATX. But man, it is a huge case! Not including out of the box E-ATX compatibility is something I have not seen in any of the cases I have had the last 20 years.
I have used double spacers everywhere (including PCI expansion cards fixation bracked). And removed the rubber grommets, the metal edges have a very good finish, no need for them.

I think I have it sorted, but those DIY-fearful be warned!

Don't think so. They just suffer from the need of being super original and super-overclever. The amount of undocumented features and drilled holes is crazy ! The crazy designer didn't want EATX compatibility? He's doomed, we fit EATX :-D
HAPPY builder here!
