DUNU is celebrating its 20th year since establishment by adopting lessons learned along the way and combining them with new engineering concepts for the all-new VULKAN. It is a hybrid set of IEMs using a unique 2 DD/4 BA configuration and offers a new take on the U-shaped tuning formula to make it stand out from the crowd.

Good review and interesting product. I'm not too much a fan of modular cables though ditto on MMCX connectors. In my experience 2pins fail faster on the cable side, MMCX fail faster on the IEM side (though maybe I should blame shure on that one). The modular connector systems seem to be more miss than hit. I get including one as the stock but it's still a wasted. In my experience people have balanced stuff are pricing themselves high enough they'll go out and source their own cable. Also not a big fan of memory wires, too often they break and then cut the cable.

TBH I've never used the stock cables on most of what I got. I've got a big old bag of cables though I sourced. I tend to match an IEM with one and then it's done until something breaks down.

Love the filters on those though. I had to spend hours clearing ear wax from non filtered iems and while there is a tool to do it, thing is medical grade and 300 on it's own.

@VSG hilariously i will not comment on the product :D but, wow, color me impressed, finally someone who know the difference between Mokume-gane and Damascus pfeewww
usually people think the difference between the two is only about the metal used in it (steel/ferrous for Damascus and non ferrous alloy for Mokume-gane) but they tend to forget about the Mokume-gane main beauty: the chiselling and flattening phase
i have a Kai Shun Santoku VG-10 Damascus and a Zayiko Nakiri VG-10 Mokume-gane but the manufacturer refer to it as Japanese-Damascus which is not wrong since VG-10 is a ferrous alloy, but the pattern of the Kai and the Zayiko are clearly different (wavy for the Kai and typical irregular spotes for the Zayiko) and usually the folding technic of the Damascus only allow for wavy pattern

ok, i lied, now on the product and review, good review as usual, and damn these plates look nice, the price point is quite ok given the specs and package content

Knife talk! If you thought headphones were expensive knives are worse! Sakai Takayuki knives for me.
"don't bring a headphone into a knife fight!" wait... wrong quote ...

well these Dunu Vulkan are cuting edge IEMs anyway

(Sakai Takayuki, some of them are on my wish list hehe, namely the Katsumitogi deba knife, one santoku Kurouchi Aogami and at least one Yanagiba, probably the Shikisai Hikari )

and what about IEMs, earphones?

i am eyeing to a LSTN Encore, since i saw them listed initially, in 2015, at 149/199$ even tho they are likely from an OEM but my etailer has 2 of them listed for less than 15$

I'm still rocking the Moondrop Blessing 2 as my daily go to and I don't see that changing soon. However Drop did a collaboration with Etymotic (company that invented, and perfected, the IEM if you don't mind a lot of pain and like reference sound) and I will get that as well. In fact I will pre order that today.

The ER4 still remains my favorite IEM but mine are old from like the late 90s early 2000s and I don't like their updated style enough to side grade to it. Drop however is doing the same thing but instead of the tube of ear rape has gone with the usual IEM shape but still with ear rape. The drivers are the same but the shape alters the sound profile a bit. I shall purchase this and I will use it with foams and I will enjoy it.

I wasn't tagged so I just saw this by chance. There are a lot of items that I need to get done first and unfortunately my not being in the US doesn't help with Drop reviews much.

What is the nozzle size? From the pictures it seems on the larger side...
