Title is probably confusing but what I'm trying to do is connect a wifi 6 router to a PC so I can connect wirelessly to this PC. The PC is ran from wifi and the router is on a different floor of the house. Wifi signal and latency is good for the PC. What doesn't work well is VR gaming via WiFi. I'd like to use my second router attached to the PC so the VR headset can connect to something very close and have a dedicated line straight to the PC. I have no use for an actual internet connection to the second router just a network connection from the VR headset to the PC. If it matter the spare router I have is a Verizon g3100. I had better performance using my older wrt3200acm as my house's main router.

There are a handful of ways to accomplish this and I don't even like the idea of doing this. However; it isn't terrible complex.

Simply connect to and configure the wifi router you are using for VR to the PC in question. To make this easy, change the default IP scheme. The router you currently use via wifi to connect to the internet already has a scheme. It is generally something like:

192.168.x.x
172.31.x.x
10.0.x.x

For the VR router change it so it uses a different network.

Once this is done you can simply leave them in DHCP mode. Your computer will presumably be ethernet to the wifi6 VR router. and wifi to the internet router. Your computer will pull two different IPs. One on the wifi adapter and one on the ethernet.

At this point power up your VR and connect it to the VR wifi router.

They should be able to talk to one another.

This isn't really that difficult. Multiple IPs are only complex in consumer land and only for some people.

Awesome. I'll give her a go here in a bit. Kids playing on the PC right now.

Seems to have worked just fine. Installing the VR software now. Only stupid thing was I could not change the ip address of this stupid Verizon router. I ended up changing it on my Linksys so they didn't match. But as of right now the PC is getting wifi from my Linksys router while maintaining an Ethernet connection to the FiOS router. Last time I tried this just using my wrt router wifi to my PC which is closer and had better signal I got about 15 minutes of gameplay and the router crashed. Lost wifi signal in the house for about 5 minutes....I assumed I over heated something in it lol.

Alright final update. Works perfectly. Loaded a few games up. Runs my PC at it's absolute max doing VR but the network now takes it. Thanks.
