The Netac ZX20 transfers data over the blazing fast USB 3.2 2x2 interface, which offers transfer rates up to 2 GB/s. Test results in our review confirm that this is the fastest portable SSD we've ever tested, and while not cheap, it's reasonably priced at $120 for the 1 TB version.

here's a reason that AM5 motherboards are so expensive—they are feature-packed—a majority of them support the USB 3.2 2x2 20 Gbps interface
I have two Gen 2x2(!!!), one of them in front. And surprisingly, despite using a budget case i bought from back when Gen 2x2 20Gbps doesn't exist, my front type c port works at Gen 2x2 speeds. And Gen 2 10Gbps exists maybe at that time(??), not too sure about that, and even then, its probably only on high end boards. NZXT site does list the type c as USB 3.2 Gen 2, but the site and/or the case might have been recently updated for it, I wouldn't know. I certainly didn't look for USB 3.2 Gen 2 capability back then. As long as it had a type c front port I was fine with it.

So ppl, don't be afraid when your casing doesn't list what type c the front port is, its probably fine for your newfangled mobo with loads of 20Gbps. Tho when front USB 4 rolls out we probably need a new case.

Anyway briefly tested with my XS2000 1TB and I did get 2.1GBps sequential read and 1.8Gbps sequential write using CDM. Once again proving there is something wrong with Intels implementation of USB 3.2 on some of their products. The AMD systems worked with the XS2000 flawlessly at their rated port speeds, meanwhile the Intel ones I tested proved otherwise with terrible write speeds.

External SSDs: 4 TB please, or even better 8 TB.

@W1zzard: I'll repeat what I wrote under other external SSD news post:
Maybe TPU could adapt some real-life tests from internal SSD reviews to "portable storage" reviews? Some would definitely be applicable, e.g.: ISO file copy, Steam unpacking, text search, AV.
Any review / comparison you (TPU) do, please state (or test various) device configuration: out-of-the-box, with HW caching turned on etc.

I just bought a ZX20 and started transferring data. All was well until it closed out the transfer window. When I tried to resume, the drive did not show in "My PC". Now, in device manager, it only shows under "Storage Controllers" as USB Attached SCSI (UAS) Mass Storage Device. I cannot get it to load the drive at all! The taskbar gives me the option to "Eject", the Settings "Bluetooth & other devices" shows the Netac under other devices. But NOTHING! I cannot access anything that had been transferred to this drive. I've tried Windows, Mac, multiple computers and have had no luck. Any clues or suggestions? I've tried to update drivers also--didn't fix it.

There's a MPtools for this SSD (Controller SM2320 + B47R) which allows firmware updates, but will void your warranty

Dont like the USB situation at all. 20gbps should be a USB version, not multi speed USB on one version, this is from my motherboard spec page. Ironically it has support for it but only on header lol.

Luckily I am not that bothered about not having it, its more how the industry designed a USB system so marketing can mislead that bothers me.

ASRock USB 3.2 Gen2
- ASRock Front Panel Type C USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Header (20 Gb/s)
- ASRock USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A Port (10 Gb/s)
- ASRock USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C Port (10 Gb/s)

I see an earlier reply suggests old cases with USB 3 ports might work at the full speed, I got no devices to confirm if thats the case though.
