Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: FSR 2.2

No button to go back to the forum post at the bottom of the review for me on this one.

It seems FSR is not implemented well or the game is just crap i guess after a few more patches we will know the truth.

gawd damn it AMD, you would improve on your FSR already?

Folks blaming FSR, but the game itself looks like rubbish. I'm shocked FSR made the game look better than Respawn's implementation.

Is there any really impressive unreal4 game?

I will nevver under stand how a review site uses an Nvidia card to test FSR performance on an AMD sponsored Game. Where are the 6800XT and 7900XT scores?

At this point, Unreal is like a 2010 Civic that some guy started to mod to make it a better car. The car now have very high mileage and it start to rust and need very high maintenance to keep it top shape.

It still possible to make it a good car, but most people will not make all the effort it need to make it run top notch. Most will just do the minimum to make it fast in straight line and mostly watchable.

And most of these people will be better served by buying a new Civic Type R.

Most of these batches of news games are just people trying to make too much with Unreal 4 without taking the time to do all the work it need to run smooth. They would be probably better served if they released their game with Unreal 5 and leveraged tools like Lumens, nanite etc.

To get back to FSR 2.*, that is a bit a thing that might be problematic for AMD. FSR 2.x seems to require a lot of fine tunning to be right. This might explain why some have a much better implementation than others.

@maxus24, What is the source that this is FSR 2.2? AMD's Forum lists it as FSR 2.1

I wonder how a strategy Game like TWWH3 would do with FSR.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Gears 5 and Batman: Arkham City, that quickly came to mind...

Good question is - why are you so butthurt about it? FSR performance is almost identical on AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, while image quality is exactly identical.

Seems on AMD GPU's the game is not so CPU limited, while i appreciate techpowerup effort i will judge the game after i see other reviews from hardware unboxed and others.

According to Wizzard's review, CPU limit is only about 10% higher on AMD GPUs so it wouldn't really change anything, still massive bottleneck. Using a slower GPU like RTX 3060 would help much more to show the FPS difference.

Nvidia practically invented TAA to then be able to say that DLSS is better, like FSR 2 in this scenario. LOL
Thanks nvidia as usual

Yeah it really doesn't matter.

So none then? I Love your content and but I wish stuff that this was verifiable.

p.s. Maybe I'm just expecting a reply tooooo fast. Sorry if that is the case :)

FSR2.2 likes fine to me but, I think XeSS looks better.:D

So, why does TPU report that Dead Island 2 and Jedi Survivor are FSR 2.2? Because that's wrong. Both games have FSR 2.1.

Here is a link with what FSR2 version is supported by each game.

FSR2 is great. The implementation in Survivor is abysmal and that's purely the devs fault.

well specifically 2.2 is suppose to be decent, but it needs to still be better AND they should push for a standardized way of implementation and provide software so you can upgrade versions per game like you can with DLSS.

Its annoying how many games have for example FSR 2.0 that you cant upgrade to the latest 2.2....those games will eternally have an inferior version because its not like the devs will put in the work to update that.

Great question. At this point they are spreading confusion :(

Elements of that appear to be in the works. AMD announced a FidelityFX SDK at GDC. Part of that is to help making proper implementations of FSR2/3 easier.

We've seen these issues before in other recent Unreal Engine 4 games, such as The Callisto Protocol, Hogwarts Legacy
...Hogwarts Legacy

That's all I need know to set my expectations haha

Hot Take: Unreal Engine 4 is a garbage engine that only Epic itself and arguably The Coalition managed to master. Cannot move onto Unreal Engine 5 fast enough!
