Looks decent enough but over 1000$ for a 2.5cm laminate tabletop is an absolute no go. Can't wait for others to copy their modular T-rail idea at a cheaper price point, i'd love to integrate something like that in my desk but I'm not paying corsair prices and I also don't have enough space for a 1.8m desk, it's a good size but I just don't have enough space for it.

I was kinda liking this desk, UNTIL I read this part: "Corsair has embossed their logo in the bottom right corner, which is a nice idea. However, the thin stain gets damaged in the process, exposing some bare wood unfortunately"

First off, this basically tells us is that even though they managed to design a moderately good looking platform for all our 'putin needs, they decided to cut their costs by using a razor-thin micro-finish, which of course, WILL scratch, wear through and/or peel off very easily & quickly, and make them look almost as crappy as one of those folding banquet tables at your local church/shelter etc, you know...those el-cheapo, beat up ones they use for dinners etc..

And secondly, everyone knows that Aluminum is NOT the right material to use in places where strength & weight-bearing capacity is needed, like that rail where the monitor arms attach to....yuk....I certainly would not be mounting anything like a 32" monitor to any arm that is NOT physically attached to the desk itself or the wall behind it, although the arms themselves look fairly nice) :)

This, in addition to the outrageous price, makes this an auto-no buy IMHO, especially considering that it doesn't hold a candle to my $300, 2.5" solid wood workbenches w/powder-coated steel frame & manually-adjustable height legs. Granted they lacked the cable trays (which I added for ~$35) and motorized adjusters (which I did not need nor want anyways), but for 5x less $$, I'll stick with them anyday :(

Shame on you, Corsair !!!!!

I could be wrong, but in the review I swear I read its hardwood, not a laminate surface.

"Made out of rubberwood with a walnut stain, it should last for decades if maintained well." From the review.

This is not holding a bridge or a building, just a couple monitors and knick-knacks, aluminum extrusions like those are used all the time in industrial environments for similar purposes and it's perfectly fine. The issue I could see happening is some wobble since the place where the bars get clamped to the desk is very far from where you will probably place the monitors - but they at least clamped the bar system through the desk which is nicer than using a regular C clamp

Instead of screwing in the white feet... could you buy caster wheels with that threading and make it a semi-mobile desk?

You're right, the review model is hardwood but they have a slightly cheaper version still well above 1000$ made out of laminate (1000$ for the fixed version, 1400$ for standing desk). Either way, it's still only 2.5cm thick, that's weak and absurd at this price

Once you've positioned the monitors on the rail, how easy is it to adjust them? It would be nice if I could simply slide them side to side 1-handed. But I get the impression you're meant to tighten the arms in a single spot and leave it there, and any further adjustment is made by arm articulation like a typical monitor arm.

I never said it was or appeared to be laminated, but even if it was made of Oak, Cherry, Teak etc...if it is not sealed & finished with an appropriately tough & durable topcoat, it will be easily scratched, dinged and dulled in short order... been there, done that, never again !

Assuming you can find wheels with the correct size threaded studs, yes it should be possible... I did this on my workbenches, so I could easily move them for cleaning underneath or repositioning, nottaproblemo :D

I might give ya $100 for the laminated model, but even that would be hard to justify IMO :)

I don't see where I said you made any comments as I didn't quote anyone. My point is, since it's hardwood, it can be easily refinished.

Tru dat, but I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would be willing to pay $1-1.5K for a desk that would either need to be treated like a precious jewel, or have to be refinished soon after buying it, simply because the mfgr decided to use an cheapo, uber-thin top coat ?

I'm no stranger to refinishing real wood furniture and enjoy doing it from time to time, but only because I WANNA, not because I gotta, to make up for someone's penny pinchin :)

I agree, but as to anything Corsair, you pay for the name.

Hi,
Thick wood usually does cost more I've never seen rubber wood lol but typically to me anyway a hardwood would actually be hard meaning if you can leave a mark with your finger nail it's a softwood not hardwood.
Not to mention the hardware which is neat.

Interesting stuff seeing they use this rubber wood for latex paint.

Outside of putting it on your walls & ceilings, latex paint is essentially worthless when it comes to durability.....

Yea I know they make what they claim to be "scuff resistant" semi-gloss latex paint or whatever, but that's a big misnomer to say the least, just ask anyone who has little children who run thru the house rubbing & banging toys into the walls....

Using it as a finish coat on any wood surface will look good for a while, but the minute you rub/scrape anything against it, off it comes... or at least it will lose it's shine, which after a while will prompt most people to either sand it down or scrape it off & apply a fresh coat, until the next kiddy "incident"

Sorry, but as I said before, aint no way in hades I'm gonna pay anywhere near $1-1.5k for a piece of furniture, only to have to refinish it shortly thereafter, simply because the mfgr cheaped out on the top coat... nope, notta, no way 'Jose :D

Hi,
Yeah I'd hope the rubber wood is a lot more durable than latex paint
