The Corsair Frame 4000D is an evolution of the popular 4000D, with a focus on additional modularity and flexibility as it is the first mainstream chassis to use the InfiniRail mounting system. The updates don't just end with functionality, as the Frame 4000D also offers fresh design details to set the stage for the new Frame series.

This case is built different. Some cases are not that good. Besides is 12600K +4080 used or 9600K +3060 Ti in the thermal stress. If you're looking at silverstone Alta f2 and one of the best cases to be recently reviewed apparently internal layouts and airflows matter.

I'm quite surprised to see the temps this case has idle and under load? Is it correct numbers?

I see! I had high hopes for this case, myself planning to outfit it with 2x 200mm noctua fans in front, 1x 140mm noctua in back and the arctic liquid III 360 in top for a silent, well cooled build, together with the 9800x3d and my rtx3080.

ive been looking at the north xl as an alternative but im currently using the corsair 4000d airflow. I love this case but i dislike the limitation to 120mm fans..

y/A/w/N....

Looks like a shlightly modded rehash of the same ole same same rehash of other rehashes of yesteryear, but OTOH, I do like the squiggly textured front cover & the I/O panel at the bottom, so there's that...:D

And not no, not hell no, but F no to the front I/O cables running outside of the case, where they could potentially catch on something anytime you want to move it around.... :(

The very clean front filter was a problem on the original 4000D because the lack of plastic support bars meant that the filter fabric was sucked into the fans quite easily. Hopefully they've moved it a few mm further from the fans in this iteration.

The single vent layer at the top is also better for AIOs than the old two layer perforated frame+magnetic filter.
I like the inclusion of a GPU support bracket - I had to buy my own for the original 4000D.
Finally, they've given back the second USB A port with this version. The fact that the original 4000D took a dual-A 3.2 header on the motherboard and wasted it on a single USB-A port in the case was irritating!

Hi,

im quite surprised to see the temps this case has idle and under load? Is it correct numbers?
I'm afraid it's a problem with the (fair, but unrealistic) test method Techpowerup uses.

Cases are tested here in their "out of the box" configuration, which means this case was tested with no fans. The only airflow at all would have been the 240mm AIO, which is trying to push air through a restrictive radiator and then the top panel.

If you bought this case for yourself, you'd likely install extra fans. I have a 4000D with three intakes and three exhausts and temps are excellent because it's an airflow-focused case with plenty of vents on the front, rear, top, and bottom.

Front panel reminds me of the screen door on our house when I was a kid.

I have this case. I'm running 3 120mm intake in the front, a singular 120mm exhaust, and then a 360mm AIO out of the top. The fans are all Corsair RS.

I'm running this with a Ryzen 7 9800 X3D and a 7900 XTX. It stays plenty cool while gaming (65ish on CPU pushing games at max settings).

This case is honestly fantastic for the price. Yes the metal is a bit thin in some spots, but it doesn't impact performance at all.

I would 100% recommend the case with fans as it's only $5 more for the non RGB fans.

I'm frustrated that Corsair continues to refuse to release the case people actually want. A micro ATX version of the 4000D. Also make one with the PSU in front.

GRRR.

I used to only use Corsair but have switched to other vendors because I believe there are a lot of great micro atx cases that have taken over the formerly itx market.

What a hot box. Is that with the fans turned on? If so, either the case is poor designed or the fans suck [ha!].

Tested with 0 case fans. Don't ask why, it's just how TPU tests and it confuses the **** out of people.

That's what I thought but when he wrote:
"Corsair has also sent along a 3-pack of their RS120 ARGB fans, so we will install these as part of the review build."
I got confused. Installed but not tested, gotcha.

To the thumbs down section I would like to add;
No Reset button.

That's a deal-breaker, making this case a non-starter for many.

@ Corsair
Seriously, what the hell is this? Lots of interesting design choices but you leave out something as basic as a reset button? Where are your brains, under your seat cushion?

It is a bit ambiguous - @Darksaber would need to confirm but I think the temps testing would stick to TPU's methodology of "out of the box configuration", i.e. no included fans since they're all listed as optional on the specs page and the case has none as photographed until the final build.

Also the placement of the front I/O is stupid. Not all of us have their computers on the desk.

The front IO being on the bottom is to allow a 360mm AIO in the top as well as on the side. Previously, this was at the top and restricted the 4000D from having a 360mm AIO in the top.

Also, yeah, the testing method for temperatures "out-of-box" is weird. Why isn't a single intake/single exhaust fan method used where TPU uses the same fan for each case, so it is more fair on a case-by-case basis?

I have seen some people get into issues trying to mount 200mm fans in front. Can you comment on this at all, seeing as this is one of the few Frame 4000D reviews.

You need to give up the PSU basement shroud if you want two 200mm fans in the front, or you could cut the end off the piece near the blue line if you don't care about the warranty?

I see no way to use 2x200 in the front with this piece getting in the way, but otherwise it's a great case for 200mm fans, even including a cutout for one at the top, too!

Yeah they updated their guide/manual now saying you have to remove it. Saw several posts on Reddit where people cut away in their new case instead. Seems like a design fail to be honest.

I'm not convinced you need two 200mm fans in the front. How is that air going to get out without two 200mm exhausts?

When people say positive pressure is better than negative pressure, you only need just enough positive pressure to prevent dust getting sucked in through unfiltered gaps. having intakes/exhausts out of balance by a whole 100% is crazy (and pointless). IMO they should have just said it's not compatible with 2x front 200mm fans.
