What is the difference between gddr3 and gddr5? Do the newer phenoms and boards even support a GPU up to gddr5? or is that just technical bs to get you to buy it?

your fine. Gddr5 is just memory for the card, cpu will run fine. No worries. Either card will work fine.

just wondering if it's worth it, cause I got another gift cert today for 150 so I'm up to 350... so my quadcore and 4870 are looking up now!

LOL you just scoring gift certs aren't ya. I would just go for a good video card I mean supergood.

honestly ive seen a review where they clocked 4870's and 4050's the same and tested mem differences, and the GDDR5 memory really didnt give much...
