570 sli vs r7 270

what should I get, two gtx 570s for $50 or a r7 270 for 60-70. I want to play pubg doom and cities skylines at 1080p medium possibly low.

i wanna say the 270 simply due to it being newer, the 270 will outperform a single 570 afaik, but not SLI 570's. i guess it would boil down to condition of the respective GPU's, as well as weather or not your PC is capable of running 2 Power hungry 570's in unison. I say, 270 , for ease of use (no SLI headaches) and because of the lower power usage

the video below is a idea of the 270's perf @ 1080p in PUBG, (keep in mind it is using FPS to record, so they would be higher if it was just running the game) also, keep in mind determining a GPU's perf with PUBG isnt the best measure of capabilities, since it can be problematic due to not being 100% finished afaik. the 570's would give better FPS,

SLI is enough of a pain in the arse in new cards let alone old.
Especially when they are Fermi Cards.
Just go with the fastest single card you can afford.

SLI GTX570 will provide better average FPS, but much worse 1 % low FPS and some really shity microstutering.

R9 270 is enough for most games to play on high or medium settings at 1080P.

I would not recommend 570 SLI for any newer games purely because it's lacking in the memory area. The performance will be okay and sli works great nowadays but you'll be getting stutters from the lack of memory.
Honestly I'd just look for a used HD 7950/7970 for that price range.

I wouldn't go for any SLI / CF. Most of the games do not support it or its badly implemented. Get a decent single GPU even if might end up a bit slower in some titles.

would go with newer tech every day so for sure the 270

I know, original post is a month old, but since others are still commenting....

I ran GTX 570s in SLI for about 4.5 years. Worked rather well. I'm sure that a good amount of games out there could still be ran high-mid settings on 1080p if SLI is supported properly. I may have stuck with the two cards for another year or two, but I kind of (for lack of a better word) fell in love with 5760x1080 resolution for games that support it. The 570s really struggled at that resolution so I opted to pick up a 980Ti almost 3 years ago and I'm glad I did.

Depending on the rest of your system, I had the 570s running under two different CPUs, two 570s could be a big power hog.

First system:
Phenom II x 4 940 - OC'ed to 3.6
2x 570s heavy OC
Watts the system used when gaming - upwards of 750W

Second system:
i5-4670k (stock)
2x 570s same heavy OC
Watts the system used when gaming - around 550W

If you had come across the possibility of getting two 570s a few years back for real cheap, it would have been a no brainer to go with it. However, just to put it into more perspective, two GTX 570s give about 25% slower performance over a single GTX 970. You may be better off finding a single higher-end GPU from a more recent generation over going on GTX 570s in SLI.

Judging from my experience with 7870 GHz, which is like R9 270, you'd be able to play 1080p low to medium no problem. I think PUBG is better on nvidia, so if GTX 770/ GTX 960 4GB is an option then go for it.

570 anything is just a bad purchase now, 1.2GB Vram, high power consumption and aging drivers.
I would look at the R9 series, ,GTX 700 series or newer.

You can grab a GTX 660 which has 2GB Vram, lower power consumption and better driver support which supports newer features too, it is also faster than the 570.
