With SLI you should expect to only see a 10-30 percent increase. But with 2 6600GTs you should only expect a 5-10 percent increase. Nothing really noticable. Should just go with one 6800GT/GS or a 7800GT. Would def. be worth it and prob. woulda saved some money since you didnt need the 2 cards (thats prob. about 200 dollars) and no SLI mobo (around 100 bucks extra).

no way

well i found in bf2 i could set max settings aax4 and the other one at x4 and still managed to get 75-100 fps on 64 player maps.with one card i would probly get 20-30 fps or less.

i like it:)

:rockout: maybe i wil build another pc this summer..but i went from a ati 9600 se to the current card and have lovewd since it is a good poerformer by it self and with 2 of them i can turn on all the eye candy setting and play..gonna see haow fear does after work.but i think i need i litttle more air flow around the vid cards..any suggestions? i was thinking just sitting a fan on the bottom of the case up right but that would look stupid and would get in the way.

My 7800GT gets hot as well. So I got a PCI-E slot fan and its lowered the temps quite a bit. You might want to get 2 of them. They run about 10 bucks a piece. They should help out a lot and I would suggest them for any system since there is no vertical airflow within the case without it. What brand of 6600GTs do you have (XFX, EVGA, BFG)? The only reason I would not suggest taking off the fan is bc of the lifetime warranties they offer (if you arent an OCer).

I believe they have a lifetime warranty. If you are not going to OC them then do not replace the fan on them. Bc if they get destroyed you can get them replaced for free. Try getting 2 PCI slot coolers and situate each one below a video card. Will help a nice bit. By the way what are your current temps?

what do you mean by "PCI-E slot fan"? you mean a fan which plugs into the back, but not into the PCI-E slot right?

cheers

No its a fan that actually plugs into one of the PCI slots. The fan takes air in from outside the case and shoots it up vertically. It def. lowers those temps since nothing is shooting air up in the case normally. Here are some examples of them (http://www.xoxide.com/slotcooler2.html). It provides a nice and cheap solution to cool the case. The other perk is that they arent loud. I cant even hear mine. The only loud fan I have is the Venus12 on my CPU.
