Guess it depends on which one you can get your hands on. If money is an issue, get the lesser of the two. If money is of no issue get the one you feel serves you best.

TO me it's all about the implementation, has to have premium parts, premium cooling and stuff like that.
Let me put it this way: the only way i'd choose the 3080Ti over 6900XT or the 6800XT is if there was a 3080Ti Red Devil.
On the other hand if you're into 4K Ray tracing and DLSS + NvEnc go for the 3080Ti......

You should buy 3080Ti only if you play on 4K or you absolutely need RTX.

RTX 3080 Ti is my vote. You get DLSS support, Tensor cores and RT Cores. on AMD side you get similar graphical performance at a cheaper price. However FSR looks like ass and it ray-tracing is about the same the RTX 20 series.

Basically if you only care about raw FPS, the RX 6900 XT wins. If you care about good driver support and extra features, NVIDIA is better. However I wouldn't buy anything over MSRP (which is not possible right now).

Assuming they are of similar price definitely the 3080ti.... it's better at RT and better at 4k.... If both were msrp 1000 usd vs 1200 usd I might lean 6900XT though or if the 6900XT is at least 20% cheaper.

Yeah it's a whole new computer I haven't put together yet. 12900k. I just try to save money and end up spending more. So this time I'm trying to buy near the top and keep my machine for more than 6 months. Thanks for your input. It's a hard question to answer nowadays. It seems some games are faster than others depending on the video card.

If you want to save even more money the RX 6800 XT is hard to beat at MSRP. But that is the problem. Nothing is MSRP>

It would help to know what your base specs are for the new PC as the CPU does matter. Also what is your use case, gaming (at what resolution,) what monitor do you have in terms of refresh rate, pro workloads etc. As this could make a difference.

If you are going top spec with 4K high / ultra settings in mind, then the 3080Ti as Ray tracing and DLSS is a powerful extra and is getting more and more widespread in games. If you just after max FPS and RT does not matter at 1440p ultra the 6800 XT...

3080ti for sure!

Other than I'm an idiot for spending this kind of money.

Some people waste money on bets, alcohol and others bad things which destroy their life. Spending on vga don't make you an idiot, just a person which wanna enjoy the fruits of your hard work.

Honest question: if we're talking about stupid money anyways, why not go with the 3090 instead?

For the 6900XT you have a decent chance of getting one at the ~$1000 MSRP when AMD.com does their stock drops on thursdays. If you can find a way to buy a 3080 Ti at its $1200 MSRP then that's what you should buy.

But if you're willing to spend >$2000 on scalped prices for a 3080 Ti then why not go the extra $500 to get a card that will probably never go out of VRAM?

Rtx 3050 or rx 6500 xt and call it a day.

I would choose from price point, both are power houses and will do what you ask.
