I got a 7900 GT KO on 14Aug06 for $299. Since it's EVGA I can step up for the next 4 days to a 8800 Series. (I can't swing the GTX, the wife won't go for that.)

So all I have to do is figure out how to scrape together $213 in 4 days. (Or it's going on the credit card.):banghead:

It will be mine, Oh YES, IT WILL BE MINE!!! (insert evil laughter):pimp:

What do you guys think?

With that processor it seems such a waste.

In Your Mind.:nutkick:

But then again, what do you know!

I like your system specs, oh wait you don't have em up there.

Never heard from you, of you and I was talking to my friends on the forum, not flaming Newbies, like you...

your cpu will do fine ;)
don't treat the newb so badly :p

nice job! i too put my name on the back order list, but for the gtx (can't wait!)

i see a psu/case upgrade in the future for me though.....

i will prolly ship mine out on monday of next week, cuz this is a three day weekend, and i'll prolly game a little, and i don't want my card to be sitting in a usps center for fri, sat, and sun!!!!

1Strive's system looks pretty F*****G sweet to me. His AMD dualy will have a new best friend with that flipping monster of a video card. I imagine it will do fine. :toast:

It states "G80, Geforce 8800 GTX is very CPU dependent".

i love this "fact" everyone throws around.

1. quit using 3Dmark generic scores (05 and before are at too low res, and 06 is at too low res, and it actually sums in the cpu score! lol)
2. game at 16*12 or higher

bout 3d06 tho, if you look at the individual sm2.0 and sm3.0 scores, the 8800gtx rocks. they get about 4500~5000 on either, my 7900gto gets ~ 2400. those are some comparable values for ya!

oh, welcome to tpu

Hey, i_am_mustang_man, you rock.:rockout:
Folks like you are why I love TPU.

By the way, did I ever tell you of the time I pulled a Newbie across a folding table by his shirt collar at a LAN party, and told him to leave and NEVER come back.

I don't quite remember who he was or what he did, but it was stupid. I never saw him again.

Now on Forums, even on work forums you get these newbies or flamers, who are so negative. Why be negative? It just don't make sense, forums are to have fun and share info.

Thanks for being good Society members to all that have been Positive. To the negative newbies. Meet me at the flag pole at 16:30H, I am going to Kick Your NEWBIE @$$3$.

Wouldn't it be weird if...

madr1dfarmer (post count 3) was the same newbie as InfDamarvel (post count 50).

I think the 88800GTS is gonna be a great card ....mines in the pipelines some where....:p

there is a review somewhere showing that the gts overclocked is like .05% faster than the gtx, but that's kicka$$ imo, cuz even tho it's not a straight up win in anything that is palpable, it's up there with the big dog. woot! i may get on of these.... do you need a 680i to oc the stream processors (iirc that's what they are caleld)

Maybe that guy InfDamarvel, me and parentof1strive (the one that put you back in your crib regarding 17" 4:3 compared to 19" widescreen) are just trying to keep the record straight.

I bought mine for 469€ incl. Taxes. Sold my 7900GTX a day later fro 250€s:

219€s for my 8800GTS incl. Taxes and such...

cheers

Just kidding w/ you.

Thanks for your post too, I guess you are just trying to keep it real.

You get credit for being able to use the author search tool.

I did read that artical you posted and it makes sence in the context of itself. However, as someone else pointed out software benchmarks are CPU intensive, most of the time.

My point is having the DX10 card is worth it for the extra bucks for me. I can see you where just trying to help, but that other guy was just flamin and then you backed him up.

No hard fealings and I will remove the bs about you two being lovers.

Can you post a link to that review?

Double Post...

Thumbs up from TPU is good enough reason for me.

When are the official R600 specs coming out?? And how do you guys think it will fair up against the G80?

People do complain that this card is CPU depedent.
But I gotta say I like how the architecture works.
It will no doubt be worth the money over the older cards since it doesnt have dedicated vertex shaders and pixel shaders (since they can be wasted when not used).
Instead they used unified shaders which will always be used (can be used as either vertex or pixel shaders).
Therefore, there is no power going to waste at a specific time in the game.
Very smart and this will indeed beat the older architecture.

So stop complaining and just admit that this card is pretty damn good.

ups sucks i feel sorry for all you who get it thru ups. i work there enough said !! heh

There are a couple of options. Get it, get it, or get it. This card is a really big step up from the current gen cards. And, the AF on these cards is awesome. Your AMD X2 will do just fine. As for SLI, well, that is CPU dependent if you run at low resolutions. I, for one, have never had any video card be able to drive my monitor at the right resolution with 4xAA and 16x AF with out turning into a slide show. That all changed with this cards release. Benches to follow.
