hi guys, first time posting here but I seriously seriously need your help here, n hopefully at least one of u have done an Nvidia GPU bios flashing lately.

I have been thinking about flashing my 9800 GX2 bios with a modded/OC'ed version of it. I use Nibitor v4.5a to extract the bios off my GPUs (there's 2 bios apparently, i assume due to the dual GPU), changed the clockrates n voltage n the fan speed on each of them, and I save them as rom files. I call them i1mod.rom and i2mod.rom.

Now I am using nvflash v5.63 dat i download off guru3d.com. However i have been having such a hard time with it for the past 3 days and no matter which version I use, it just keeps giving me problems.

First issue, I cannot use nvflash to create a backup of my bios (see pic below). Everytime i try it i keep getting the same error, dat write eeprom to file failed, I/O error: Cannot create file.

2nd issue, ok so I use nibitor to do so, n now i have a modded bios, n i wanna flash it onto the GPU. I get this error: I/O error: Cannot Open File: i1mod.rom

I've ran nvflash -r before hand but it doesnt do any difference. I see under help dat there's lots of other options but I dont wanna mess around with something I dont know.

I dont know if it has anything to do with my flash drive or how I booted into DOS (I use those tool discs dat comes with a brand new boxed HDD). Those are the only options i have to boot into DOS since I do not have a FD drive.

I really really do hope dat someone here could help me with this since there's not much found around the net to help me through it. Please help

first name them orig and mod.rom no weird numbers and stuff just keep it simple now when you flash type in the following

nvflash -4 -5 -6 file.rom were file is your modded bios

Aquariuz :

1. Reboot into the BIOS
2. Go to advanced bios features
3. At HDD boot priority will see your usb flash device than use + to highlight it and move
to the frist .
4. After that at the 1st boot device : highlight removale

Now i think you can update your 9800GTX ^_^ ?
I'm use the same 680i sli MB like you.

Hi Zee, i'd help u but first of all, arent u posting under the wrong thread? I think Admin will move your post n make a new thread of it or something. Then I'll reply back to u there. First of all though, in your user CP, edit your signature, n put in your system's specs, just like wat I did to mine. It helps us who's trying to help u know more about your system without asking questions.

oh wait, my bad, i didnt know about the system spec link under the user name lol. forget bout wat i said then hehe.

If any help you have had didn't work send me a pm and i gave you the info i get to flash my evga

you know if any of you need help you can click on the 8500/8600 mod guide in my sig the flashing process applys to all nvidia cards

Alrite, got it to work :) I dont know which one is the solution but i followed wat Solaris said n renamed the roms to simple no number names. I called them amod.rom n bmod.rom for each gpu.

n then i used my usb floppy drive to run nvflash n everything worked out fine. backup n flashing works.

Here is wat GPU-Z sees:

yeah

where can i pick the other bios please.Shall i flash when H2o is installed as i mean to WC it soon.

ok well im not going to lie i dont quite understand you but you said you want a bios?

well you can dump yours.

Get GPU-Z here
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1153/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.2.7.html

and when you open it up like in the pictures above on the main page click the microchip with the green arow to save it.

then get nibitor
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Video-Tweak/NVIDIA-BIOS-Editor.shtml

so you can edit your bios to the speeds etc that you want :)

then you get nvflash
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1127/NVFlash_5.67.html

and make a bootable floppy or usb drive put your modded bios on it and nvflash and boot from it then type

nvflash -4 -5 -6 mod.rom

and your good.
