My mom wants to convert a bunch of her Karaoke DVDs to MP3 format. Normally this isn't a problem (I'm using 'Any Video Converter') since the the segments are dividing into a bunch of .vob format files but this DVD has the music on the 2nd audiotrack instead of the 1st audiotrack so when I convert them the audio is all wrong because its using the 1st audiotrack.

Can anybody recommend a good program to use that gives a better control over file format conversion?

Audacity comes to mind

Well, you need a ripping program that allows to select which audio track to rip.
The only one I've come in contact with was ImTOO DVD Audio Ripper, which allows you to directly output the DVD audio track onto an MP3 file, and although it has a trial version, this is a payed application, so you might want to extract the audio using an open-source/freeware tool like DVD Audio Tools and use Audacity (LAME encoder) to export to MP3.

I got ImTOO from Campus (I love getting stuff from University :D) but when I converted the divx file the sound quality was terrible! I set the sound quality to the highest I could (320 bitrate, 9600 sample rate) but the audio doesn't sound nearly as good as the DVD originally does. Of course this is my first time using this program but trying to convert this directly to MP3 leaves some pretty crummy results, I must be doing something wrong but what could it be?

I've been messing around with ImTOO DVD and after messing around with volume, sample rate and bitrate I'm still having problem. temp02, you seem to have experience with this program, what am I doing wrong?
