Looks like it just took off some of the edge and left the pads/traces intact. You should be ok.

Tested and it’s working but that is annoying

It's just the plastic end, no worries.

please dont tell me thats a 5090...

No, and just leave it alone, this is why i always remove that stupid clip on the slot so you can pull the card out correctly ( and no not saying you should due to warranty reasons but).

You can use a nail file to make it appear less... broken.

Just NO!. should just leave it alone, and maybe complain to the board maker ( and keep complaining until resolve ).

you can sell it?

Wont ever remove gpu again. I wouldn’t need even installing extra SSD, have 4+1TB. Would just remove heatsink for repaste per 6 months and that wouldn’t need removing GPU

Why worry about looks. It is not like you will be seeing this part when the card is installed.

What board did you use? Have you an open RMA?

That issue happened on ROG Strix X870E-E, them I switched to Crosshair X870E Hero cuz of its revised version in terms of tilt release. That damage occured on E-E model so my complaint is about E-E, not Hero. I also created RMA to Asus about my Zotac GPU

GPU may be well working, but when it's RMA time and vendor tech/rep sees that chip off, that's gonna be rejected for sure, as it will be a "user error" case..

Yeah, any physical damage is 100% blamed on the user.

You'll likely need a lawyer if you actually want to get any support and zotac warranty is likely void.

I will take this matter to consumer court and seek my rights against Asus of course. I have lawyer and I have pending ticket on there, would take action depending on their response.

I wouldn't bother with RMA. With that board, I would just eject the GPU the old fashioned way, if you decide to keep it. But iirc there was a recall or something at one point

So how did it happen anyway? I've used hammers to install GPUs (literally, in the golden age of AGP) and never had damage like that.

Would be nice if you keep us updated about what they say and claim.

I could see asus responding with some BS like only our gpu are compatible with our motherboards we do not offer support for ant 3rd party products.

In my experiences they are by far the worse company to deal with when it comes to RMA It's been a couple generations so hopefully that's changed especially after they got grilled by GN about it but I doubt it.
