Yesterday morning I picked up a Acer AO722-BZ454 netbook for school.
The specs list the cpu as an AMD C-50.

However, once I got it out of the box and into windows I noticed to my surprise the cpu was being reported as an AMD C-60. :D

Now it had me wondering as I didn't even think the C-60 had been released and I ran across a few articles that mentioned a September release.

Here is a few screenshots.

awesome. last time i saw a bus speed that low was with my K6-2 550mhz haha. still, that's a nice little chip for a netbook

and according to this it's on time http://www.techpowerup.com/144260/AMD-C-60-Gets-TurboCore-to-CPU-and-GPU.html

August is the beginning of Q3.

do you know if your netbook can support more than 2gb memory? i may get a c-60 based one for on the go work stuff... (since my atrix 4g is rather slow using the lapdock)

I have read that it will support 4gb however that was with the c-50. However, I don't see the c-60 being any different.

whats it like playing games... remember to turn the power saving off....

i might get one of these to take on my travels...

I just picked one of these up to play around with, but mine definitely has the C-50 :( Where did you happen to pick yours up from?

It definitely needs 4gb of RAM, 2GB with 256 taken for the GPU leaves it a little laggy. I didn't install a fresh copy of Win7 though, just manually removed 99% of the bloat (want to see if any of the free games it came with are worth keeping- aside from Torchlight :D).

EDIT: Just looked @ the box and mine is the BZ454 as well. Maybe I should return mine and wait for them all to have the new APU.

I didn't try any of the pre installed games. However, I installed GTA vice city and it was more that playable
I got mine from my local Target.

I found this piece of information from slickdeals

-Check the "Due" field on the outside of the brown box. You do not need to open. You will likely get the C-60 if the "Due" date is 2011/7/30 or later.
-Some people are reporting getting C-60 / AMD-6290 Graphics, and a 250GB hard drive, even though the box says "C-50 / AMD-6250 Graphics"
-Almost positive that the 1.01 BIOS versions contain the C-50s and the 1.04 BIOS versions contain the new C-60s.
-See attached pdf document for easy in-store reference.

You can find the pdf and any other information here.

could it be the 1.01 just needs an update to 1.04 to recognize the c-60 as a c-60 rather than a c-50?

That would save me some hassle, seems like everyone and their mothers are returning and scooping up the C60 versions now.

EDIT: When you think about it the only difference between the C-50 and C-60 is turbo boost, so in reality a BIOS update could be all it needs. I am downloading the newest BIOS now and will report back. I am pretty confident you are right  :D :D

plz don't get mad at me if it doesn't lol

No luck with the BIOS update and CC 11.7. Will likely exchange it.

ah that sux, well it was worth a try i guess, srry for the late reply been rebuilding my comp haha

I've had one for about a week. Very nice. I haven't tried any games on it yet but HD video playback is smooth as silk. I'm running a trial of Adobe CS5. I do a lot of video editing, this will render clips ok. Not super fast obviously but ok for tweaks out in the field. I've got 4 gigs in it.
