AMD will begin offering AMD Live! computers with Blu-ray and HD DVD drives in Q3 2007. This should definitely increase AMD's market share in multimedia PC's. While both AMD and Intel are working hard on making a nice multimedia platform, AMD with AMD Live! and Intel with Intel Viiv, neither of them have very much market share. This is probably due to a lack of enthusiasm from any major computer vendor. AMD's support for HD DVD and Blu-ray should help the Blu-ray drive gain popularity.

Wow, very nice. Though I am sure, Intel will make it sooner, just because.

ok what exactly is amd live! my mobo says amd live ready and I have no idea wtf that is. I know it has something to do with entertainment but other then that I'm lost

straight from wikipedia:
"AMD LIVE! was originally the name of Advanced Micro Devices' initiative to gather the support of professional musicians and other media producers behind its hardware products. The primary focus of this initiative was the Opteron server- and workstation-class central processing unit. AMD subsequently extended AMD LIVE! into a platform marketing initiative."

But What Does It Do

it says amd live ready...... I'm thinking ready for what.....?

Ha ha AMD needs to work on their marketing technique :) (people aren't going to buy a product when they don't even know what it does).

I have simply on idea what the hell does AMD Live do XD

Its their entertainment flag. Just like Intel has Viiv for Video whatever whatever whatever, AMD Live is their entertainment concept. Nothing hard to understand what it does. Also, they will be offering things that work with AMD LIVE READY AND AMD LIVE PCs.

So it's less of a hardware feature and more of a certification :wtf: I think I'll stick with my various collection of AC and Zalman stickers as certification, thanks.
