G'day all.
I've been lucky enough to snag a reference 6900 XT (Asrock Reference ASRock > Radeon RX 6900 XT 16G). I wanted a reference as i intend to put an EKWB on it.
First thing i do is open up Time Spy and i notice that the GPU is only using 253W of power at maximum. This is reported in Afterburner, GPU-Z and AMD's control center. 20~% lower than the stated 300W TPD on AMD's website. Asrock don't list a TDP on their website, just a recommended 850W PSU. I also get the same power reporting when running other benchmarks, like Unigine Superposition and FFXIV: Shadow Bringers game benchmark.
At first i thought it might be a driver issue, as a had a 3060 ti installed prior to this. I'd manually uninstalled the software through Programs and Features. I decided to use DDU and reinstalled the AMD drivers using its builtin clean install option. This didn't resolve the power reporting numbers.
If i manually increase the power limit in the AMD control panel by 15%, the reported power usage increase by 15%, to about 292W. This is a far cry from the 345W it should be reporting.
I've tried comparing my scores on 3dmarks website, but results seem to be all over the place for the GPU scores, so it's hard to get a handle on where I'm falling. I don't believe it's a PSU issue, which is a Seasonic SS-860XP2 860W Platinum PSU.
I don't check forums often these days, due to time constraints, but has there been any reports of errors in power reporting on the 6900 series?
