AMD Sapphire R7 260x Core Clock problem

Hi guys,

Since this forum seems to be the most reliable in terms of overclocking and GPU in general, I wanted to know if you can help me.
Here's the thing, two weeks ago, I bought a new computer, it was in fact a kit that I built myself.
Everything went well, building, installing drivers etc. I played BF4 with ultra graphics settings.
And, one week ago, everything started to mess up. My GPU started to switch from 3D mode to 2D mode in a middle of a game. My GPU is an AMD Sapphire R7 260X 2Go.
So, I tried to figure out what was the problem : I re-installed several versions of the drivers and still the same issue. Then, my GPU stayed locked in 2D Mode (150Mhz(Core)/300Mhz(Memory) instead of 1150Mhz/1650Mhz).
Ever since, I tried so many things like modifying my AMD Overdrive setting, my Windows power options. Nothing solved the problem.
So I installed OC utilities such as RivaTuner and manage to get my GPU memory clock up to 1650Mhz. But the core clock stays at 300 with sometimes 750Mhz peaks (according to GPU-z).

I just tried to flash the bios of my GPU but couldn't modify the .rom extracted with RBE because it didn't recognize it as an AMD bios. I just tried to flash with the default bios found in TPU BIOS Collection, vainly.

I don't know what to do .. If you need any further information in order to help me, just let me know, i'll be as quick as possible.

Thank you in advance :)

PS: English isn't my native language, so let me know if you have trouble understanding my problem.

I would RMA the card.

Thanks for your quick reply !
I didn't understand what do you mean by "wise everything" .. Could you explain it, my poor English doesn't help me.

I don't want to RMA my card. It will take so long and it is obviously not an hardware issue because it worked few days ago.

I will try to do what you said ruff0r as soon as I get home.

Thanks a lot !

What he meant was you should see if the temperatures of your card are within normal ranges, some issues may appear if the card is overheating. Also, did you change anything else in your system, software and hardware, before the issue appeared? If yes, you could try to revert the change and see if it helps.

I tried your solution ruff0r and it ... WOOOOORKS like a charm, i'm so f**king happy.
Thanks a lot man, and thank you SKBARON for your help too ! My gpu temperature was normal (about 40°C).

Don't know how to mark the topic as solved but it is anyway , I hope this will help people in the same situation which is really sad when you just bought a computer for his graphics.

Good to know you've sorted it out :)

Hi guys,

I thought it was a victory .. It worked yesterday just after the drivers sweep and it is now just like before .. Stuck at 300Mhz with 750Mhz peaks.
I can't do a driver sweep everytime I turn on my computer, what can I do ?
