Looking for a barebones fan app, don't care about overclocking just want the fan to kick on and Precision crashes GTAV (very nice) and Afterburner doesn't like anything but a manual speed, I just tried several auto curves etc. in Afterburner only to have the gpu ignore the curve and run the fans off and then 100% for ~1 second every ~10 seconds.

Are there any easy ways to mod a bios fan profile?

Not on nv cards. You may have to crossflash. Start with a gpu-z screenshot so we can see your specific card bios

EVGA Precision did a bios flash the first time I used the card and it works fine to control the fan speed except with GTAV there is a crash that kills both it and GTAV and I have the latest version of both.

Have you seen thermal limits using hwinfo64 when that game crashes?

here are the rest which some are newer than what you have already.

Not high, usually around 60-65 degrees or so with a silent ish profile, haven't had a crash since I switched to Afterburner so I know it's the Precision software making it happen (tried a couple different Nvidia drivers to rule them out as suspect then I checked event logs as soon as a crash happened and there were 3 red errors at the time, one unhandled exception, one for gtav and one for Precision).

Are you referring to the fan stop thing ? I don't think you can turn that off, the fans will still turn off below a certain temperature even fi you have a fan curve.

Also 100% fan speed sounds really odd, are you sure this is not related to anything else ?

Try this goodie
Tried but unfortunately the profile stops working as soon as game starts...

Yes, the profile I use with Precision works in games but unfortunately has a serious issue with GTAV so I need another way to control the fans besides the default roller coaster profile. Probably going to test another bios since no other software seems to work in game even if left running while gaming.

Yeah with EVGA dropping the GPU business, there is no guarantee they will even fix it now.

Rem0o fan control, best thing ever. I don't use it anymore but when I was running a modded Tesla M40 it was a godsend to control the fans I had blasting the card.

Even with precision and afterburner closed? That’s odd…

Hi,
Weird I've never had any issue with fan curve with afterburner :/

Three fan evga card though yeah you're stuck with evga app.

In Afterburner, if you set the fan speed to, let's say, 10%, the fans should stay off. I don't use the "Fan off" function. At 25% speed the fans barely spin at around 800 RPM, when idle. Shouldn't worry about fans' life span, especially if they come with ball bearings.

Have you tried Gainward ExpertTool? Gainward used to support Nvidia and ATI until they had a falling out with ATI and dropped support. ExpertTool for Nvidia is still supported and just may work in your case. It may be worth a try?!?

Did you try ticking the "force apply" in the three dot menu of the GPU fan? Did you try NvApiWrapper instead of LHM in the Sensor Settings under the three dot menu of the main window. Remember to refresh sensors detection.

Heres an alternative. Since it also uses LHM and NvApiWrapper for hardware detection and control, you will most likely run into the same issue, but no harm trying.

Yes as well as the 0% fan speed override and nothing works in game, if I alt tab to the desktop the fans spin up to the manual speed I set but as soon as I go back to game the software stops working.

Gave that one a try too but no joy.

I'm going to try older versions of Precision since it seems to be the only one that works in game, wish me luck.

Update: Precision v1.2.1 seems to be working ok, played GTAV for about an hour with no crash
