Anyone know how to make fonts?

Exactly what the title suggests.

Do I need a certain program or just to edit an existing font? And if so how do I do that?

There is a certain style of writing I want to make a font of, but I don't know how to.

So does anyone know how? :wtf:

P.S.=> I know this, because I suggested to a buddy of mine named Pat once that he ought to do one & sell it to the feds, because his writing is SO bad lol, he cannot even recognize it himself an hour later @ times... I told him it would be GOOD for encryption purposes & that he ought to call it "PatScript" lol... apk

Sometimes, it works out! He writes down other women's phone #'s & his gf busts him in it but she can't read the numbers OR the names & knows he can't after a good bit... lol!

Well, I hope so @ least... I haven't done it myself, but there are tools (freeware or shareware, & even commercialwares probably) & tips/tricks/techniques for doing it on tools you may already own!

Years ago I printed all the letters and puncuation out on a blank page, scanned them and made a font of my printing. Yes I print. My writing is too terrible to read - even for me!

I used Adobe's Fontographer 4 (I think it was the last version made). I would think it would run on XP and from what I remember (10 yrs ago) it was easy to use and did a great job. I still have my font file I made.
