Aren't AMD PBO meant to be on permanently when activated?

Just a simple questions about AMD PBO.

When i activate PBO and auto oc with Ryzen Master on my asus dark hero X570 with a 5950X cpu in it and restart it. It work´s great.

But here come my problem. When i restart my pc or shut it down and when later boot it up again. It all ways goes back to stock settings again. Meaning when i open ryzen master, all power limits is set back to stock limits. It´s annoying i have to activate it every time.

So Is this just how it is or is there a way to force PBO and auto oc on permanently. Maybe go in to bios and activate in stead?

No, you should have made permanent settings in the bios.
But I wouldn't recommend activating PBO, since it stresses CPU by feeding with a high voltage.

Which means consuming more power, more heat, and less lifespan.

It's on permanently when activated on bios, at least with my B550 board and 3600. I also use the Ryzen high performance setting

BIOS will be permanent, I'm surprised it wasn't enabled by default. Only exception I can think of is if your PC crashes/doesn't boot and motherboard thinks it was OC.

Maybe a Ryzen Master bug or feature? I never really trusted RM much for serious daily OC, seemed too flaky to rely on software. RM directly tweaks the settings in the AMD OC submenu in BIOS (whose duplicate PBO features exist primarily to facilitate RM functionality), but I've seen my fair share of buggy behaviour from RM.

In any case I don't see why you'd need to use RM. Dark Hero has the hybrid OC feature in the BIOS, it should have Curve Optimizer and all the other PBO goodies in the BIOS, and it should have per-CCX OC in the BIOS. You've got all the OC options you'll ever need laid out like a buffet, in the most intuitive BIOS layout known to man. Just go the extra mile and do everything in the BIOS like most people do.

OMG I am in big trouble all this 5200MHz performance and its not going to last.... :S

Try another monitoring software than RM. My friend also thought that PBO wasn't working on his PC, he has a 5600X and same board as I have (B550M Aorus Elite), but HWInfo64 shows that it boosts as it should.

@Tomgang well , at least for you it works even for a little bit , as mine does not budge an inch to improve performance in single thread asus b550f gaming+5800x all the while reducing allcore boost clocks.

If it were me I would just uninstall RM and do everything in the bios. And you can save it to a profile too so if you have to clear cmos you don’t have to make every entry all over again.

I think i have found it out. PBO working in bios. I dit not work at first, because i had set RM to auto oc as well. After reseting RM to default. it´s working when set only in bios.

Simply RM and bios settings was trying to over write at the same time. Not working so good. So from here on, it´s bios only.

I literally only used it once or twice when I first slid into AM4. It was over wiring my bios selection and I got better results using bios anyways. I don’t even use it to monitor. That and their chipset software.. haven’t used that since I moved to Zen3.
