Hello,

The Astral 5080 OC Edition does not allow for Power Limits past 100%. I am not able to pull the vbios as of yet but I have attached a photo of this.

So.. you want to flash your 5080 because it does not allow past 100% power?

Wow. I doubt more power would help you out much..

It is still kinda odd that a 1500 usd 5080 is limited regardless of if it matters or not.

Op only the gigabyte cards allows a 450w limit afaik and it was barely faster than the other 400w models and slower than the astral.

Why Asus?

Why continue to disappoint.

FWIW I have never considered flashing my GPU. It already has a 305w bios on it, the hardware can deal with it, but more? Not sure.

I would rather avoid sending it out for repair :D

Meow.

I agree shitty move by Asus considering the card is very overbuilt and would likely handle the full 600w of the 12vhpwr cable. Asus probably doesn't want to handle RMAs from people burning up their cards lol is my guess but still if Gigabyte can do 450w on the gaming OC the Astral can.

Right?

FFS Gigabyte, I have avoided you for decades. And now here we are.

I am posting here from Reddit because we are trying to get Asus to notice this and address it.

100% they should offer a higher power limit bios to people spending 1500+ on a 5080.

Yeah at this point if its the most expensive one why does the Gigabyte have a higher power limit? Why do other cards go to 110% and mine cant? It should have every feature possible and at this point we are not sure if it was an oversight. The whole build seems like they were intending to do something like that buy maybe the intern forgot to add it to the bios. I have not got an official word from Asus that the power limit is correct. Tech Support is confused when I tell them I cant set 110%, they have me reinstall GPU Tweak III and the Asus posted drivers, but really it should be 120% to compensate us.

It seems Asus has set the base power limits to 400 probably why, the official one is 360w I believe which is already 11% increase at stock. Why it does not go up from there is beyond me though makes no sense.

If you want more power, pony up the extra dollars for the 5090 and stop whining.

Dude. Its 100% is 400W while other cards 100% are 360W. So its 100 is actually 110.

So, what you asking is 120%, not 110%.

I agree more power should be allowed simply because it's a ROG Astral, although you are probably unlikely to get it to draw 400 W on air

I get it to 400w on air all the time in benchmarks that can fully saturate the GPU. It will float high 300s in actual games.

Mmm, so it's actually hungrier than the 4080? That... doesn't sound too good. o_O

Yeah and it's matching the 4090 at 450w when it runs 400w. The Astral 5080 is very close to a 4090 so that is the card we compare it to, on average it's 5% faster than the FE 5080 without overclocking. Closer to 15% faster after overclocking which it then hits 400w. It can be at a 4080 on about 280-300w.

Can confirm power limit slider goes to 125% on my Gigabyte model.
Currently testing the limits. Got it running at +400 on core and +1000 on memory.
Highest power draw however was in the Nomad bench in 3dmark, constant 400W. Others sit below it. Didn't go past it for now, maybe with higher clocks it will.

What Gigabyte model do you have?

It stops at 400W due to voltage limiter? Then undervolt can give you more usable power? 1.1 to 1.05 should give 10%?

Hows it in furmark?

Didn't check the voltage, or if it's hitting limiter yet. I'm not gonna go into undervolting, I'm not looking to break any records. But simple OC gives over 24 000 in Port Royal, ballpark of 4090 so I'm happy. Stress testing it still in Speed Way, Nomad, Superposition and games and some other benches. So far stable.

Dont forget stability check in both dlss and non dlss. Because tensor cores require voltage too.

Also rt cores require voltage.

Rt + dlss

Rt - dlss

-rt + dlss

-rt - dlss

Also video encoding engines require power.

Also increasing vram oc can make gpu oc unstable so doing vram first can be better.
