I got problems with my Asus MX239.

About 2 months ago , the monitor lights up hard. I don't use sleep mode on my computer or hibernate. I have set my display to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity. In the past at one small move of the mouse or press any button on keyboard it would light up in 1 second. Zero delay. But about 2 months ago, the light up time was 4 seconds, and ONLY if i would move the mouse and press multiple keys at the same time. One single move of the mouse was not enough or a single press of the button.

4 days ago, the display turns off even as i am working on the computer. It turns back on after 4-5 seconds. The thing is the led indicates color white witch means that it has full power. So the display turns off but the power led is on. Happens every 3-5 hours, it's random.

I changed the hdmi cables ,and the solution was , once i moved the cable into a slot number 2 (the monitor has 2 slots i used slot 1 for 2 years) the problem is gone. Light up time is 1 second. So far no more sudden unexplained turn offs.
My conclusion: the hdmi slot 1 is bad.

This is where i need your help .
I could easily send the monitor to warranty .I got 8 months of warranty left. But i am afraid to do so. Afraid it might come back in a worser state than it is now. I don't trust the people from warranty.

My question:
Can the hdmi slot be fixed ?
If the hdmi slot is not fixed will it affect the other good port ? I realise that if one day (2 years from now on) slot number 2 is broken i am left without a monitor. The wise thing to do is to fix the broken slot.

P.S. : Yes i tested the monitor on 2 different desktops and 2 laptops. I used 2 types of hdmi cables and a hdmi-DVI cable . tested different combinations with both slots 1 & 2 and different cables. Like i said port 1 is bad.

"Do or do not there is no try" maybe they will replace the monitor, i don`t think that is a port problem, your display power supply might be failing.

That would be easy . A simple power supply change.
