I am about to build a new computer, and I would like to go with an intel X48 chipset,I was going to go with a 790i but it sounds like a bigger POS every day... any way i was going to use the ASUS Rampage formula. Is this a good board?, is there a better one that you would reccommend, and how are the quality of these boards? I will also be using a GeForce 9800 GTX, Q9450, And 2x2gb DDR2 800.

They are great boards and the quality is superb. They are meant for crossfire though, and cannot run two Nvidia cards. So if you plan on sticking with a single 9800GTX go with a P45 board. Or, you could go with getting some 48xx series video cards and get the Rampage.

The boards are quite nice from what ive read. and like erocker stated, that board supports crossfire, not sli. So you would have to go with ATi, which, is better right now imo, especially the new 48xx series

Yeah, I know you can't SLI on those:(, but I keep reading on how bad Nvidia chipsets suck, and i got an NFORCE 4 right now running two 6800s and I have a lot of problems with this board... But I was planning on getting one 9800GTX right now and mabey switching to Xfire later, so would a rampage run a 9800 GTX well?

Yes, but it wouldn't make any sense buying the GTX, unless you already have it. If you want to crossfire later, might as well get the ATi card now.

If you want to crossfire later, get the Rampage Formula by all means. It uses two x16 pci-e lanes while the P45 uses x16 + x4.

no the p45 uses 2 X16 and a third x8. The P35 did that rocker not the P45 it is a Tri fire board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131319 When three cards are added the slots all go to x8 but according to the sites because of PCIe 2.0 having more bandwith the cards don't lose performance.

Expansion capabilities include two PCI-E x1 slots, two PCI slots, and three PCI-E x16 2.0 slots that support CrossFireX at x8 speeds. The lower PCI-E x16 slot runs at a max of x4. Even though the x16 slots run at x8 in CrossFireX, the PCI-E 2.0 bandwidth is higher, negating any effect the x8 speeds have. Quad CrossFireX is supported! In between the bottom PCI slot and the second PCI-E slot lays the Asus Express Gate SSD. This little assembly is basically a flash drive with a small Linux distribution that allows for quick web access without going into the OS.

I don't think that's correct. The new Rampage Formula II has 2 16x pci-e, but the Maximus two uses x8, x8, x4 if all slots are used.
