ASUS Republic of Gamers today announced ROG Delta and ROG Delta Core, a new series of gaming headsets tuned especially for first-person shooter (FPS) gaming. The headsets feature Sony-certified Hi-Res Audio and are designed to be incredibly lightweight and comfortable.

ROG Delta is the world's first gaming headset with the industry-leading, hi-fi-grade ESS ES9218 QUAD DAC , which delivers impeccably clear and detailed sound to give serious gamers the edge they need to win. ROG Delta features a USB-C connector and comes with a USB-C to USB 2.0 adapter for gaming on PC, console or mobile devices without changing headsets. ROG Delta Core is a headset with a 3.5mm connector that delivers superb sound quality and an excellent balance of features and support for the most popular gaming platforms, including PC, Mac, mobile phones, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

High-resolution audio for FPS gaming
ROG Delta features an ESS ES9218 QUAD DAC that provides lossless audio processing with each DAC devoting its processing power to a subset of the audible frequency range, from lows, mids, highs to ultrahighs. The four signals are then combined, which produces clearer sound with an impressive 127dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) that's much higher than any similar technology that's currently available in the market. As a result, gamers can hear and place in-game sounds with pinpoint accuracy, letting them precisely judge enemy distance, direction of footsteps, gunshot locations and more.

ROG Delta also features exclusive Hyper-Grounding technology that prevents electromagnetic interference via a multilayer PCB and special layout design, resulting in pure, noise-free audio. ROG Delta and ROG Delta Core are crafted to provide excellent comfort. Both headsets have ergonomic, D-shaped ear cups that more closely match the shape of the ear, versus oval ear cups, reducing unnecessary contact area by 20% for a better, more comfortable fit. Inside each ear cup, the drivers are tilted by 12 degrees to closely match the natural angle of the ear, further improving comfort. I hate this audiophile nonsense placed on top of garbage ingame audio. Like, what's the point?! It's like playing a worn out audio cassette on a hifi system for 150.000€...

They really need to standardize TrueAudio from AMD or something to really elevate audio to a higher level with true physical audio. With ray tracing for graphics, it's really time we also get (again, since we already had it back in late 90's with A3D) ray traced audio in games. All this chasing of specs means nothing if source is terrible. No bitrate or sampling frequency can replace lack of quality 3D positioning or audio processing (reverberation and occlusion).

Then, gear like this will really be able to shine and show its real potential.

No, AMD's TrueAudio and this ROG Delta Core Headsets are gamer gimmick "nonsense" not audiophile nonsense. The ES9218 is a smartphone DAC and the LGV20/30(P) use this chip. Most DAC chips themselves are really cheap and it's the implementation that matters. With that said these are both gaming DAC/DSPs but the ROG Delta Core Headsets will have a lower output impedance because it's all handled onboard and it's not going through PCI-E. AMD's TrueAudio is just a dedicated digital signal processor (DSP) for PCI-E cards in most cases. I am sure some motherboards have AMD's TrueAudio too but don't quote me on that. No, skip me with that gimmick. Since it's PCI-E what type of output impedance are we talking? Whatever it is it's too high as it's PCI-E. Depending on your headphones/set could be losing 1/3 of your sound, no thank you. All TrueAudio and ASUS are doing is distorting the existing sound. Yes, they are just putting an EQ on what they think helps out the 3D audio effect. You do NOT need this at all. There are many ways to accomplish and this is just this AMD's and ASUS's versions. Game audio engines have had 3D audio surround in them for decades, it's been built into Windows since like pre-Win 95, and there are tons of software options. The thing I don't get with PC gamers is they just settle with overpriced gimmicks for audio but have the best of the best for everything else. Just get an external DAC and or AMP set up with a decent set of cans. While looking for a headphone/set "audiophile nonsense" will more than help you pick the correct headphone/set for gaming, and you should learn it.

Smoothe fake leather style headband plus fabric earcups, AKA the best combo. Nice to see as hardly any gaming headsets have this setup :)
