Hi, I had my 4070 Ti for almost 6 months now I never really looked at the temps at that time but since I looked recently I saw it goes up to 73C at times with a hotspot temp of 87-88C I looked at Techpowerups review on this specific model and they were only getting a max temp of 67C on the core and 76C on the hotspot I'm not sure what's up with my card the fans are all spinning and it's in a pretty well ventilated case that being the NZXT H6 Flow, any ideas? my ambient temperature is 22-23C

I mean, maybe the ambient is significantly different between your and TPUs room temp, maybe your card has a bad thermal paste application from the factory, there are variances possible. I would not worry too much, if the temps you stated are under full load after reaching steady state, then you are well within the operating parameters of the chip. And if the 73C is only “at times” and not the typical workload temps, then even better.

Ah yeah it's probably bad thermal paste application from the factory I could repaste the card myself but I'm rather scared to take it apart, I'll just maybe look into undervolting the card to get bit lower temperatures while maintaining similar stock clock speed.

Create a custom fan curve with something like MSi Afterburner. From the factory your card is likely only pushing the fans 40-60% until you hit 70C+. At which point, it can't bring it back down it's heat soaked.

If you make the curve so the fan spin up faster, earlier; the card will maintain a lower overall temp. Only downside will be fan noise (if you can hear them over your other fans/noise).

I already have a fan curve setup though I do have it setup like this

Try taking the case side panel off before repasting to see if it has any impact on temps. If you case is well ventillated it should make little to no difference. It's also very easy to do and will eliminate your case / case fans as a potential variable.

I've already done that and there was no change in temps, here's a pic of my PC so you can see it's well ventilated

that temp is about normal. You gotta remember when reviews test them most of them use an open air test bench which allow it to get cool air 100% of the time. Inside of case even with good flow its still gonna run hotter then most review testing will show. doing the thermal paste over likely won't yield much if any results.

Huh that's odd cause Techpowerup conducted their review of this card inside of a case.

That's the problem right there! Your fans only ever spin at 55% speed, even if the card were to reach 100C. You are barely moving any air.

I would have it incrementally step up the fan speed to reach 100% at the temp you do not want to exceed. That way you are utilizing all the cooling capability of the card before it's heat soaked.

I have it capped off at 55% because the card gets very loud for my liking past that.

I see, that may be the area of compromise then. Loud fan noise or cooler temps. But certainly that will explain why you're not seeing the same temps as others, you are using only half your cooling.

It's pretty much the stock fan curve so no not really I just have the fan to ramp up faster since my curve turns the fan on at 40C instead of 55C etc all the reviews I've seen all use stock fan curve and they get much lower temps than me even reviews that use cases instead of open are test beds.
