First, I built my system about 18 months ago and have had some issues with my audio 'disappearing' until rebooted, with no clear explanation.
More recently, I made some changes in getting my mini-studio integrated into my audio. HDMI audio runs through display (speakers disabled), with its headphone out into a small headphone amplifier. One output goes to my headphones, another is a pass-though into some audio equipment on its way to the motherboard's line-in. The rear speaker output goes to a receiver. Simplified, I can choose HDMI out for headphones only, or rear output for the receiver. Obviously, the headphones will still output regardless, but is not a problem for me.
However, several times since, my B550-PLUS suddenly sent output to the receiver (rear out) on its own when I was listening to headphones only. After correcting this, it was just a matter of time before it did it again. Last night it did this three times in an hour or so. I finally muted the line-in, which fixed this, but it shouldn't be doing this.
I have read about some audio issues in relation to a certain Win10 update, could this be related, or is this a sign of some issue with the board?
*sigh* Just when I was about to receive a 4K60 Pro MK.2 I scored on eBay...
