I bought a 4870X2 that arrived today and I just got it setup. I have 9.7 CCC drivers installed on Windows 7 64-bit and am having trouble with some games and not all. Originally the GPU was underscaling and causing my screen to not be 100% used, but I changed that in the control center and everything on the desktop is fine. I use a 32" 1080p HDTV and the native resolution is 1920x1080.

Some games like Street Fighter IV worked perfectly right away, a couple others like Anno 1404 and FarCry2 have a small black boarder around the edge of the screen and the games look a little blurry. One game was running in 1080i, and even though in the options its set to 1920x1080@60Hz, it's still running in 1080i which I don't quite understand. I've only run these three games so far so I'm not sure how many others will have problems. But I'm sure there's a setting somewhere I need to change I'm not familiar with. Afterall this is my first ATI product in many many moons.

it really comes down to the individual games aspect ratio settings. 16:9 (HDTV, 1080) are not regular aspect ratios for monitors. the closest is 16:10 which is a common monitor ratio.

I had one or two games throw A fit on the HDTV, but most have a ratio setting, or I just knock it down to 720 , or a non-native res and overscan. i really think your problem is in the ratios(software,in the game), not the hardware.

I would google the game name and 16:9. etc , to see if someone has come up with a tweak/fix.

Also, note - I use my 42" Vizio often for gaming , and always for movies. it is only run from the ocmputer, cable is never watched. My refresh is always set to 59, not 60. if I force 60, it starts acting funny. I don't know if that means anything, but from personal experience my HDTV needs 59Hz, not 60.

Actually it turned out not to be as many games as I thought, and for whatever reason reinstalling the two with issues fixed them so everything is fine now. I do however have another question though...I have RivaTuner open and it monitors along with temps the individual GPU1 & 2 usage, and during some games it's only using 1 GPU, others its using both. Flight Simulator X for example was only using one and it was lagging.

Microsoft Flight Simulator though in depth and beautiful, is notoriously buggily-coded. It doesn't surprise me that it is not using the second card. it is afterall CrossfireX , and not everything is supported. FSX doesn't support it without service packs, I don't even know if it supprts it with service packs.
