Geil doesn't seem to be very popular these days, so maybe that's how this has managed to stay in stock at such a good price. After reading recent reviews, I bought 2 kits for a couple of crunching rigs and I can confirm the 3200mhz kits are in fact B-die. You won't find it cheaper than this:

GeIL Orion DDR4 RAM, 16GB (8GBx2) 3200MHz 1.35V XMP2.0, Intel/AMD Compatible, Long DIMM High Speed Desktop Memory, Hardcore Immersive Gaming/Multimedia Content Creation/Quality Live Streaming at Amazon.com

Good find, but do you actually know they are B-die from the timings you've tested or pulled off the heatspreaders, or did you just go off Thaiphoon? Can recall Thaiphoon mislabelling Samsung C-die as B-die which is a big no-no as C-die scales negatively with voltage. At 3200/14 I'd be convinced but 3200/16 is a magnet for any mix of chips, every 8Gb and 16Gb chip on the market can do 3200/16 1.35V.

I don't think you even need to change freq, 16-16-16 or any 14-16-16 or lower would probably be enough to verify

Just thaiphoon. I'm going to play with them tonight and see about CL14. There were a couple of Amazon reviews claiming cl14, but we will see.

Those advertised timings are too slow for b-die.

If you want the cheapest B-die, you should look for OEM G.Skill Ares (f4-3200c14q-32gao).
These used to go in a bunch of prebuilt HEDT and gaming rigs. Got me a 4x8GB kit just a few weeks ago for less than $150. It's unlisted on official website, but it's definitely Samsung B-Die, easily runs advertised 3200MHz CL14 XMP even on my finicky motherboard. The only issue is they are hard to find, and AFAIK they only appear on random european listings.

I got 32Gb of Patriot Viper RGB 3600cl17 on the cheap a year ago and they are bdies as well.

I've only tested 1 of the 3 kits so far, but here's a typhoon screenie:

WAIT that's not Samsung lmao that's Micron Rev.B. and not even the good kind, which is 16Gb Rev.B

The 8Gb Rev.B IIRC was absolutely terrible and might have scaled negatively, can't remember. Although I know that Micron intentionally cuts down some of its best binned 16Gb Rev.B in order to put it in extremely high clocking 2x8GB kits, I don't know if it would show up as a "8Gb" die after being cut down. And I don't think Micron gives its best half-capacity Rev.B to anyone other than itself (Crucial), as it always ends up in the flagship 2x8GB 4400 and 5100 Ballistix kits.

Generally, Thaiphoon is often wrong about the die revision but it almost never is wrong about the manufacturer so you might be a little boned there sadly

floating around on the web there are some results for 8Gb Rev.B, not promising

ya, those arent sammy, those be micron.

I know.

Wanted to see who caught it first. I was looking at it quickly last night, and just saw "B" and matched it with the reviews I saw on Amazon. As soon as I looked a few minutes ago, I had to chuckle at myself.

^^Yea that's not a surprise. The advertised latency was a dead giveaway that they were not b-dies.

should update the title. im sure you can return them if you want. should not be a problem with amazon.

I should never, ever trust what I look at with my eyes half open at 1am.

Sorry guys.

Imagine buying something then return it because it couldn't go far beyond its advertised specs

Confused Robert Downey Jr GIF
Amazon literally allows you to return things for all sorts of stupid reasons, including "ordered by mistake" and "product did not meet personal expectations"

So yeah. Just playing the game.

lamo people would take advantage of that for so many stupid shit, surprised that this system was up for this long

So, really no place to go with this thread. This was just my careless mistake.

Let's move along before this becomes a train wreck.
