Hello guys!
I was wondering about what card can run stalker above 30 fps in 1024 x 768 resolution with all maxed out.
Thx!

HD 5700 series should do the job very well.

The HD 5750 can do it at 1024x768, every graphics setting maxed out.

I find the game CPU demanding as well

Wow man, i just ask about the card just to know and i perfectly know that with the best sempron you even bottleneck 5670.

i'm actually downloading the clear sky now via steam... i'll let you know how a 9600gt handles it at those settings

System requirements

Recommended:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400/AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+,
2GB RAM,
nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX/ATI Radeon HD 4850/512 MB DirectX 9 or 10 compatible video card

Minimum:
Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz/AMD Athlon XP 2200+,
512 MB RAM,
nVidia GeForce 5900/ATI Radeon 9600/128MB DirectX 8 compatible video card

i.e you can play it but only at the lowest possible settings and it will probably lag a lot.

Asking about the best graphics card to play a game isn't really the best way... You have to state your budget...
The "best" graphics card for any game would be a GTX480 or an HD5970... But it's useless getting one of those if you have a weak cpu or little RAM. I know that from personal experience, my own card is bottlenecked by a E8400 @ 4Ghz but I'm planning to overhaul cpu, mobo and ram come September.

With your system, I don't think that card exists. I may be wrong. :ohwell:

You're probably right. I didn't google his mobo - probably a mobo with ddr1 would have an AGP gfx slot.

If he can't upgrade the cpu, I'd say 9500GT or at max a 9600GT. Anything more powerful will still give him the same performance. Remember he's gaming at 1024x768 as well.

Edit: forget the 9600GT with that PSU.

The GTX 285 would be perfect. It would burn out the 350watt generic PSU and perhaps take the rest of the system with it.

+1 on CPU demanding. When my Phenom 9850 is at stock 2.5Ghz, i get a lot stuttering, putting my overclock back on clears it up.
If you could find one, a Radeon HD 4670 (for that system). From your system specs, you will probably need more system memory, STALKER can end up using quite a bit (more than you have available). If possible get another 1GB.

As i stated before, I know he probly cant get one but he needs a new system or an updated one. maybe a phenom I would play it but from what i hear from soviet missile is that his phenom I X3 is horrible with games even with a 5850 so IDK :(

My 9600GSO, when it was still in my AthlonII2800 system, handled it fine. I didn't use DX10 features though.

10x7 reso, all maxed out, 30fps?

forget the 9600gso or gt if you want to run it on maximum settings at 1024*768 with DX10 (or 10.1)... unplayabe on mine. however, it runs fine on "high" settings rather than "maximum" with dx10 but no AA or AF

well i take that back... now that its raining in the level it runs fairly well on maximum settings. 25-40fps. but at the start of the game when the sun was out it was very sluggish. so i guess i wouldn't call it unplayable.

Well i run it very good with all minimum :P
Still just asking cuz i am curious.
I know the gtx480 is the best, but i mean at that resolution, even 5750 can handle it very good.
Or the new 5670 maybe....
So pls suggest the least powerful card that can handle it at max.
Thx!

You've got a huge processor bottleneck, that Sempron will cripple any video card you mix it with. I'd say get the 5750 and look to replace the CPU/motherboard later in the year when you've got the money. The slowest video card I would consider is the 5670 but $20 more gets you the 5750.

Power Color 5750 1GB $104.99
POWERCOLOR AX5750 1GBD5-H Radeon HD 5750 1GB 128-b...

XFX 5670 5670 512MB $84.99
XFX HD-567X-YNFC Radeon HD 5670 (Redwood) 512MB 12...

PS. AM2+ motherboards start @ only $40, and the Athlon II X3 starts @ $60. You could literally buy a new motherboard, processor and video card (5670) for just under $190 or just over $200 (5750).

With AM2+ boards you can keep your existing memory.

Get phenom 2 x3 with min 500w psu hd 5750 4 gig ddr2 ram at 667 and not too expensive mobo and youre done and maybe a cheap case with more than 1 fan :) will maybe cost you 600 Euro max :) probably less

edit: just telling you what you may/can buy ;) not telling you what you got to do here :)

is this game so demanding? can my system run it?
