My favourite device for reading Compact Flash, Secure Digital and Micro SD is the Kingston FCR-HS4 USB3.0 multi-card reader. The slot for CF cards is quite deep (at least 10mm) which makes it difficult to bend the pins inside the reader. I've been using a pair of these FCR-HS4 readers for at least 3 years and they've never let me down.
Given its age, I don't think the Kingston FCR-HS4 is UHS-II rated, but even so, ATTO disk benchmark shows a read speed of 232MB/s and write speed of 192MB/s on a 128GB Lexar x1800 UHS-II SDXC card. The claimed read speed for this SDXC card is 270MB/s in a UHS-II compatible device. My fastest CF card is a 128GB Sandisk Extreme Pro at 160MB/s (read speed). The FCR-HS4 reader is fast, which is handy when copying over 100GB of RAW+JPG files per day.
I also have a couple of Startech FCREADHCU3 card readers of the same vintage, but they sometimes stopped working when transferring files at USB3 speeds on one of my two laptops, used for daily backups when abroad. The CF slot in the Startech reader is much shallower (less than 5mm) and the pins are far more exposed. I no longer use the Startech readers.
I haven't tried any Lexar CF card readers but they should be good, given the high price.
