What is the best brand for good modding experiments. Mostly cosmetic. I dont plan on doing and cutting. Just lights and LCDs and stuff. Im thinking a Lian Li. I have about 180$ for the case and modding stuff.

My recommendation is go with the cheapest case you can find, or find/buy an older second hand one to go nuts on for your experiments, a lot of the more expensive cases are already set up pretty good and I wouldn't go cutting into them..

Like an old beige box or something, one that still has the Win98 CDKEY stuck to the top :)

Haha. Thanks for the advice man.

Some of the more hardcore modders in here will probably have some good recommendations if you are keen on a better case to start with, mkmods and cyberdruid go nuts when it comes to custom, and they are just 2 members off the top of my head.

I have seen some really intresting mods done with the Cooler master CAC-T05 Centurion 5. With or with out the window. It is a great case to experiment with because ......

1. it's cheap so you won't be out a tone of money if you mess up.

2. It fits a 5870 even though they say it won't but I used to have one so I know. Plus with video card getting bigger and bigger these days you want room to grow.

3. It already has some nice features for what you pay for. Like optional window and Mesh 5.25 bays and front.

4. It's fairly plain. Looks really nice for being plain but that just means it will give you a nice canvas to soup up.

Check it out........

I modded out my version with cable management, extra fans, Removed HDD cage, Paint job, Cut hole behind the CPU, and other things. I loved that case. I used the windowed version. I even put a fan in the window.

I wish I had pics to show you but there is a whole club devoted to mdding out this case I will leave you the link......
