BFG 6800GT OC 256 APG does not recognize my monitor

Just hooked up an older BFG 6800 OC AGP card and for some reason it will not and does not recognize the monitor.

It just says auto detect and then goes immediately into sleep mode. I have adjusted the powers settings to never for the monitor but still not luck.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this matter would be appreciate.

Oh, it is a 19" flat screen monitor.
 
sooooo. . . . . your getting no video at all with it then right.
 
yes, that is right. Sometimes when I reboot a couple of times the video comes back.
